Katharine McPhee and David Foster are celebrating seven years as a married couple.
The two first met 20 years ago when McPhee was a contestant on season 5 of American Idol and Foster was a guest mentor. They struck up a friendship, which eventually turned romantic.
McPhee and Foster made their red carpet debut in 2018 and got married a year later in June 2019. They welcomed a son, Rennie, in February 2021.
"A year ago today I married the love of my life. Thank you for always loving me and inspiring me in all aspects of my life," McPhee wrote in an Instagram tribute to Foster, celebrating their one-year wedding anniversary in June 2020. "I love you. Here’s to the future!"

In August 2019 — just two months after they wed — McPhee kissed Foster on the cheek during a sunset cruise by the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
"David’s first time. 🗽," she captioned the Instagram photo, tagging the location as the Statue of Liberty National Monument.

A sweet moment for Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day in February 2021, McPhee posted a tribute to her husband on Instagram, sharing a photo of them in an embrace while standing in a body of water.
"My forever Valentine!! My best friend, my favorite person, my motivator, my everyday!" she wrote in the caption, tagging Foster. "I looove you cookie. ❤️❤️❤️."

In honor of their 2022 EP Christmas Songs, the couple performed at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Plaza in November 2022.
"I think I guilted David," McPhee told PEOPLE the month prior about their Christmas collaboration. "I said something like, 'It's really crazy I'm married to the greatest producer, basically of our lifetime, and I've only had you record me on a few songs.' Then he said, 'OK, well, why don't we just do a Christmas album?' "

Happy holidays from Walt Disney World

In 2022, McPhee and Foster celebrated the holiday season from Walt Disney World.
They performed during the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade, which aired on Christmas Day in December 2022. The following year, the couple released a holiday album, Christmas Songs, an expanded version of their 2022 EP of the same name.

On Nov. 3, 2024, McPhee posted a sweet photo on Instagram of her and Rennie sitting next to Foster onstage.
"My whole world in one photo 🤩💕," she wrote in the caption, tagging Foster and wishing him a happy birthday. That night, the family celebrated Foster's 75th birthday with a star-studded concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
