NEW YORK (AP) — Asked what viewers should expect when television's MSNBC makes its corporate divorce from NBC News final this weekend, network president Rebecca Kutler points to a poster on the wall of a conference room at its new offices off Times Square.

Its message reads: "Same Mission. New Name."

"To me, that encapsulates exactly what we need to be saying," Kutler said. "Our job in the next few weeks is to flood the zone ... and make sure they know the thing that they love will be the exact same thing on Nov. 15."

Saturday is when MSNBC officially becomes MS NOW, standing for My Source for News, Opinion and the World. That's the most visible manifestation of parent company Comcast's decision to spin off most of its cable networks into a new company known as Versant.

It's tough enough when one partner tells another that they're leaving for someone new. In this case, they're just leaving the partner behind; a cable television network is considered such a diminishing asset in today's media world that giant companies would rather be free of them.

"A lot of us really didn't know what it meant," said prime-time host Jen Psaki, "and it didn't feel great initially."

Embracing the ethos of a startup

Left on its own, MS NOW is embracing the ethos of a startup, suggesting it will be better positioned to experiment without ties to the more corporate NBC News. "Morning Joe" is starting its own newsletter. Podcast ideas are encouraged. The network is expanding live events, letting its television stars interact with the audience; Rachel Maddow has one in Chicago later this month.

"I didn't see this as a divorce," said nighttime host Michael Steele. "I see this as the kid growing up and leaving home. We all know what that's like."

As Kutler says, the network's focus on news and commentary with a liberal perspective remains intact. So does its lineup of stars — Maddow, Nicolle Wallace, Ari Melber and the like. MS NOW has built its own reporting and support staff, and is moving into a new headquarters west of Broadway in Manhattan that is, not incidentally, the former longtime headquarters of The New York Times.

The new office, tricked out with the latest electronics, ends one geographical oddity: No longer are the political polar opposites MSNBC and Fox News Channel located across Sixth Avenue from one another.

The MS NOW news staff has about three dozen reporters, among them Washington Post alums Jackie Alemany and Carol Leonnig. It has signed partnerships with Sky News for international reporting and AccuWeather for forecasting.

"Being divorced from NBC News gives it the opportunity to make deals on its own to supplement its cable existence," said longtime broadcast and cable news executive Kate O'Brian, who spent several years at ABC. They have a strong identity and a built-in audience of people who oppose President Donald Trump, she said.

"They're lean, nimble and niche, putting them in a better position to adapt to any emergent platforms," O'Brian said.

MS NOW is leaner in audience than MSNBC was a year ago. The network's prime-time weekday average of 1.17 million viewers this year is down 29% from 2024 — a number linked in large part to its viewers' disappointment at the presidential election results. Fox News Channel, with Trump to cheer on, is up 14% to 3.11 million viewers.

Yet MSNBC has roughly twice the audience of CNN, which saw an identical 29% decrease in viewers over the first nine months of 2025. MSNBC was also buoyed by a strong election night performance where it ran neck-and-neck with Fox, even while missing the khaki-clad numbers nerd, Steve Kornacki, who chose to remain with NBC News.

MS NOW's freedom appealed to reporters Jacob Soboroff, who chose it over NBC News, and Rosa Flores, who said she is joining the newly-named network from CNN primarily because she sees the opportunity to do a greater variety of things beyond the immigration beat she'd been covering.

"All the legacy news organizations are trying to make their way," Flores said. "I felt like being part of a news organization that was building solutions from the ground up was so unique that I wanted to be a part of it."

Being part of a news operation with a clear political identity was not a barrier for Soboroff. "It's about the people for me, always, it's not about the politics," he said. "I feel like I do what I've always done, which is report the facts on the ground, turn them around to our audience and let the audience make up their own minds about what they think."

Cleaning out the office at Rockefeller Center

The company is spending a reported $20 million on a marketing campaign designed to publicize the changeover, which will include billboards in Times Square, the Grove in Los Angeles and the South Capitol Digital Experience Wall in Washington, D.C.

Far cheaper is the mug with MSNBC crossed out and replaced by MS NOW on the set of "Morning Joe." Co-host Mika Brzezinski recently cleared out her Rockefeller Center office and reminisced about times that NBC's Richard Engel and Keir Simmons appeared on their show. "We're going to miss some reporters," she said, "and they're going to miss us."

With a rapidly evolving media landscape, success or failure will ultimately be decided by who has the content people most want to see, said her co-host and husband, Joe Scarborough.

"If this were five years ago, I would have been, 'Oh, my God, how are we going to do this?'" he said. "Everything is so fluid now."

Taylor Swift is dropping a new 'End of an Era' trailer on Nov. 13. Here's how to watch

Leave it to Taylor Swift to time her next reveal with a familiar wink to 13, her favorite number.

On Nov. 13, the pop icon is sharing a trailer on "Good Morning America" for her upcoming Disney+ docuseries "The End of an Era."

"Tomorrow, tune-in to Good Morning America to see the brand-new trailer for Taylor Swift's 6-part docuseries, The End of an Era, coming to Disney+ beginning December 12," Disney+ tweeted with the official poster for the series.

The six-part series promises an intimate look behind her record-breaking Eras Tour, from the sweat and stamina of rehearsals to the reflective moments that came in the hotel room after the stage lights turned off.

The first trailer for the project of a docuseries and final concert movie from her Vancouver shows in December 2024 aired on "Good Morning America" on Oct. 13. The 99-second trailer opened with Swift in the gym, hair pulled into a ponytail and likely filmed at Dogpound in New York. During her "Time" magazine interview last year, she described running on the treadmill while singing her entire set list out loud to build her endurance.

"Fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs," she said.

Swift walked past section A13 in Miami wearing a yellow sweater and jeans, her cat Olivia Benson tucked under her arm with a caption of her being "back in the office… 😎." At the 14-second mark, she's seen sharing a kiss with Travis Kelce beneath the stage during or following her "Midnights" set. He's wearing the same black outfit he had on at her Nov. 2, 2024, Indianapolis show.

The story rewinds to the very first night in Glendale, Arizona, as the camera pans over rehearsals inside State Farm Stadium.

"The Eras Tour wasn't when all the pieces fell into place," Swift says. "This tour was when every single one of us who had done so much work clicked together."

Swift's family appears in a heartwarming moment: She's seen cheering in a Kansas City Chiefs T-shirt alongside her parents, brother Austin and longtime publicist Tree Paine inside the Miami Dolphins locker room. Another clip shows her stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer adjusting her "A Lot Going On at the Moment" tee used for "22."

The trailer flashes through guest appearances — Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, Florence Welch and Gracie Abrams — before cutting to a home video of Swift's late grandmother Marjorie Finlay playing piano as a toddler Taylor sits on her lap in a nod to the "Evermore" song she wrote about Finlay.

It closes with Swift in a hotel room, cat Benjamin Button at her side, removing her eyelashes and preparing to sign 2,000 CDs.

SPOILER ALERT: This story contains major spoilers for "Ghost of Yōtei," released Oct. 2 from PlayStation's Sucker Punch Productions.

Erika Ishii went through multiple battle sequences and physically demanding cinematic scenes during their time as the lead voice and motion-capture actor on Sucker Punch Productions' "Ghost of Tsushima" sequel, "Ghost of Yōtei."

But one of the most demanding parts of the role was actually a dialogue-heavy cutscene in the game that saw their character, Atsu (a.k.a. the Ghost of Yōtei), find out her presumed-dead brother, Jubei, was alive and well and happened to be the samurai she was currently begrudgingly teaming up with.

Played by prolific video game Noshir Dalal ("Red Dead Redemption 2, "Marvel's Spider-Man 2," "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor"), Jubei is a key character in the PlayStation video game centered on Atsu's mission to avenge her family during the beginning of Japan's Edo period in the 1600s.

"It was my first scene with Noshir. It is a meaty, juicy scene, but having a juicy, meaty reunion scene with an actor maybe a month after they've been cast is normally very difficult to get into," Ishii said during a recent interview with Variety. "But there was just this immediate sibling chemistry there, and also the estrangement of the siblings sort of lent to this rediscovery feeling that we had in this cutscene."

Ishii revealed that the version of the scene included in the game, which was released by PlayStation Oct. 2, was an "actor's choice" performance from Ishii and Dalal.

"So Nate Fox, the creative director of the game, our fearless leader, he directs all of the cutscenes, the Class As. And he will do a couple of takes, we'll get one that is good and that we like, and then he'll say, 'actor's choice.' And that means we just have free rein to experiment or make a move or do something unexpected, and frequently, those would be the takes that they would go with. And this is one of them."

After a minute of trying hard not to get choked up by the pivotal, cinematic scene from the game, Ishii notes how "joyful" the process of shooting actually was.

"Noshir is really phenomenal in this," Ishii said. "And just thinking about how this was so fun, this was such a joyful shoot from start to finish. And even though Atsu has some really messed up, upsetting things happen to her, and there were days on set where I'd be attacked by a bear or blown across the room with a cannon or stabbed in the shoulder, it was just so fun. It was so fun."

Ishii is the first actor to be featured in Variety's new interview series, "Variety Plays," which uses a gameplay walkthrough, livestream Q&A format. During the interview, Ishii showed off their gamer skills while fielding questions about the making of "Yōtei" (Atsu's wolf companion was referred to as "Bluey" throughout production!), as well as their all-time favorite games and latest work for comedy streamer Dropout.

Watch Variety's full interview with Ishii as she plays through "Ghost of Yōtei" in the video below. The Jubei reveal portion starts around the 14-minute mark.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday called for the removal of Ukraine's justice and energy ministers amid a wide-reaching corruption scandal involving the state nuclear power company.

"Among other things, this is a matter of trust," Zelenskyy said in a video statement on his Telegram channel as he urged the prime minister to remove Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk.

He said he is asking members of parliament to support this decision.

The announcement came after Ukraine's anti-corruption agency said Tuesday it has detained five people and identified seven other suspects in a major graft investigation involving alleged kickbacks worth around $100 million in the energy sector.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau did not identify the suspects but said they include a businessman believed to be the mastermind, a former adviser to the energy minister, and an executive with the power company Energoatom.

The agency also accused eight people of bribery, abuse of office and possession of disproportionate assets on Tuesday. The investigation, which began 15 months ago, was welcomed by Zelenskyy who urged officials to cooperate with the probe. Energoatom says the investigation has not disrupted its operations.

Zelenskyy said existence of any type of illegal schemes in country's energy sector is "absolutely not normal." He said he will sign a decree imposing sanctions on two people included in the corruption investigation, but didn't clarify who.

Top government officials and associates close to Zelenskyy are implicated in the scandal.

Earlier, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said Halushchenko would be suspended from his post. Responding in a statement on Facebook, he said he would defend himself in court.

"I believe that being suspended for the duration of the investigation is a civilized and proper course of action," he said. "I will defend myself in the legal domain and prove my position."

Halushchenko, who was energy minister from 2021 until July when he took over as justice minister, has not been formally charged.

Svyrydenko said Deputy Minister of Justice for European Integration Liudmyla Suhak will take over Halushchenko's duties as acting minister.

The alleged ringleader of the scheme is a close associated of Zelenskyy's, Timur Mindich, who was among those charged, according to local media reports.

Panamanian authorities on Tuesday announced a large seizure of U.S.-bound cocaine on a ferry in the Pacific, at a time Washington is upping an anti-drug military deployment in Latin America.

Prosecutor Julio Villareal told reporters approximately 13.2 tons of drugs, "in this case cocaine," were seized in an operation Monday, and 10 people arrested.

It was one the biggest such hauls in Panamanian waters to date, he said.

In a social media post, the prosecutor's office released several images of the alleged drugs, saying that a total of 11,562 packages were seized.

Panama is a transit point for cocaine from South America, mainly Colombia, destined for the United States — the world's largest consumer

Villareal said Venezuelans, Ecuadorans and Nicaraguans were among those detained on the ferry, which had set out from Colombia.

Panama in 2023 seized a total of 119 metric tons of drugs.

Latin American countries have been keen to show off anti-narcotics efforts as U.S. strikes on alleged drug-ferrying boats have claimed at least 76 lives so far in the Caribbean and Pacific.

Washington said its military deployment in the region is part of an anti-drug campaign, but Venezuela in particular fears it is all a ploy to get rid of its president, Nicolas Maduro.

When asked in an interview with "60 Minutes" recently if Maduro's "days were numbered," Mr. Trump responded, "I would say yeah. I think so, yeah."

Recent drug seizures on the high seas

Large amounts of drugs have also been confiscated from boats in other parts of the world in recent months.

In October, police in Spain said that they seized 6.5 tons of cocaine and arrested nine people after a U.S. tip-off led them to raid a ship off the Canary Islands.

That same month, U.S. Central Command confirmed that a Pakistani navy ship seized narcotics worth more than $972 million from sailboats in the Arabian Sea.

In September, the French navy seized nearly 10 tons of cocaine worth more than $600 million from a fishing vessel off the coast of West Africa.

In April, the U.S. Coast Guard seized roughly 10,000 pounds of cocaine from a fishing boat in the Atlantic Ocean. Earlier this month, the Coast Guard said it had seized more than half a million pounds of cocaine in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and Caribbean during this fiscal year, the largest amount in its history.

The Department of Justice announced Tuesday it is investigating protests that broke out at the University of California, Berkeley, this week during an event held by Turning Point USA, the group founded by slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk that caters to youth on American campuses.

Protesters gathered hours before the event, with some seen in standoffs with lines of police. Several arrests were made by both city and university officers, according to UC Berkeley spokesperson Dan Mogulof, who condemned any violence around the event.

Both the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force and the DOJ's Civil Rights Division will investigate what happened during the event Monday, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who oversees the Civil Rights Division.

The investigation will involve "a deep dive into all the potential criminal and civil aspects of this horrific situation, including our concerns about UC Berkeley's history of not protecting conservative speakers on its campus," Dhillon said on X, noting the UC Berkeley Police Department has been asked to preserve all records regarding its response at Monday's event.

The university is conducting its own investigation and will fully cooperate with federal authorities "to identify the outside agitators responsible for attempting to disrupt last night's TPUSA event," Mogulof said in a statement Tuesday.

"There is no place at UC Berkeley for attempts to use violence or intimidation to prevent lawful expression or chill free speech," Mogulof said.

The university spokesperson noted the Turning Point event "proceeded safely and without interruption, with more than 900 participants in attendance."

At least three people were arrested Monday, the UC Berkeley police department and the city's Berkeley Police Department told CNN affiliate KGO. One of those was a student who was released after being cited. Another individual was charged with trespassing and obstruction, according to KGO.

One man seen being taken into custody with a bloodied face was later identified by police as a victim and released. Witnesses told KGO the man was assaulted while selling Turning Point merchandise. Another man taken in custody at the same time was charged with robbery and battery, KGO reported.

CNN has reached out to university and city police for more details.

Both Dhillon and Bondi described the protests as violent and blamed Antifa, the anti-fascism movement President Donald Trump designated as a domestic terrorist organization in September. Last month the DOJ brought its first federal terrorism case against alleged Antifa-aligned operatives.

"The violent riots at UC Berkeley last night are under full investigation by the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force. We will continue to spare no expense unmasking all who commit and orchestrate acts of political violence," Bondi wrote on X, describing Antifa as "an existential threat to our nation."

The president of Turning Point's UC Berkeley chapter condemned the violence but acknowledged most protests on Monday were peaceful, according to KGO.

"There's only a handful of incidents … but a handful of incidents is too many," chapter president John Paul Leon said.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end says he likes to get out of town when he has time off the field

Travis and his fiancée, Taylor Swift, were spotted enjoying multiple date nights in New York City

Travis Kelce enjoyed some me time, or rather, some us time while getting a week off the field.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end celebrated his team's bye week with a trip to New York City, where he and fiancée Taylor Swift stepped out together for multiple date nights in Manhattan.

"I went over to New York. Just hung out, man," Travis shared with his older brother, Jason Kelce, on the Wednesday, Nov. 12 episode of their New Heights podcast. "Put the feet up. Saw some cool places, ate some great food."

The Cleveland Heights, Ohio, native said he's a fan of New York, which he's visited with the "Welcome to New York" singer multiple times.

"Got to feel the Big City, and it's electricity and it's buzz that it's always got," he added. "And, yeah, it's my favorite time right now as the seasons are changing to be around the Midwest and the Northeast. And, yeah, it was pretty fun."

He added that he has "some new friends" in New York that he likes to visit.

"It's cool to just kinda vibe around the city like that," Travis said. "I think that's one of my favorite things to do in New York, is just to, you know, be one with the city. Just kinda walk the streets and feel the electricity, feeling everybody doing their own s---, and then meeting a few new people on the way."

The NFL star shared his approach to a bye week, noting that he rarely likes to stay at home.

"If you're fortunate enough to come out healthy and you can get away, I like to get away and recharge," he said. "Not everybody has the same feeling. There's a lot of guys out there that have families and they end up staying in town and all that. But I like to get away, recharge, see something else, see a new city, feel like I'm somewhere else."

He added that during that time, he likes to give himself a proper break from football, focusing on enjoying a new city.

"And kinda just shut it down. I'll watch the games on Thursday, Sunday and Monday, but I like to kinda get away," he explained. "Being in Kansas City for 13 years straight for eight months out of the year, it's like, yeah, that can be a nice home for somebody. But at the same time, I'm somebody, I gotta move my feet, man. I gotta travel. I gotta see new things, visit friends, and, I got to see a lot of friends and family out there on the East Coast."

The Chiefs are next set to take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Nov. 16.
