Bre Tiesi revealed why she would "never allow" Nick Cannon to be on Selling Sunset in a recent interview with Us Weekly

Her relationship with Cannon has been a recurring topic on the Netflix reality show ever since she joined in season 6

Cannon, who shares son Legendary with Tiesi, does not appear in Season 9 of Selling Sunset, which dropped on Oct. 29

Bre Tiesi is putting her foot down when it comes to Nick Cannon making a cameo on Selling Sunset.

Fans who binged season 9 of the hit Netflix series, which dropped on Oct. 29, or watched the reunion that aired on Nov. 5, will know that Cannon, 45, does not make an appearance in the latest season. And if it is up to Tiesi, 34, who shares 3-year-old son Legendary Love with Cannon (his eighth out of 12 children he's welcomed since 2011), he won't appear on the show at all.

"I would never subject [Nick] to that," the real estate agent, who joined Selling Sunset in season 6, told Us Weekly in a recent interview. "I will never subject him to a show that did not show him an ounce of respect or grace."

Tiesi said it's a "hard no" to having Cannon on the show, despite his willingness to do so.

"I don't care if they said they'd give him $100 million," she said. "I would say, 'Not a f------ chance in hell.' I definitely hold a grudge, so I would never subject him to that."

The model added, "The crazy part is that he would do it. He would be nice enough to do it if that's what I wanted. That's what I love about him. But it's a hard no for me, because they have tried." (Netflix did not have any comment.)

After previously telling PEOPLE that her personal life has been "dramatized" on the show, she told Us Weekly that she is "slowly feeling a little bit more comfortable introducing my real life [on the show] because it is controversial."

In the new season of the real estate drama, Tiesi said that she and Cannon are still going strong and that she has "no complaints" about their relationship.

The Wild N' Out creator notably attended the Los Angeles premiere party for Selling Sunset season 9 with Tiesi in late October.

Cannon also shared his support for Tiesi in July, telling PEOPLE that she's "built" for the spotlight.

"I mean when you see her on Selling Sunset and even how she moves on her own, you know, it's content, [but] it's not a facade," he said during a taping of his Nick Cannon @ Night Wondery podcast, adding, "She don't need [advice], I need to get some advice from her."

He gushed further about Tiesi, telling PEOPLE, "She's a rockstar. She's a superstar. She's an amazing mom, amazing businesswoman and truly like a boss."

Tiesi — who has previously noted that she and Cannon are "open and happy" — has received criticism for the nature of her relationship, most notably from her costar Chelsea Lazkani.

The pair's longtime feud was originally sparked in season 6 when Tiesi joined the Selling Sunset cast. Tension first started brewing between the pair after Lazkani said she didn't approve of Bre's relationship with Cannon, calling him a "master manipulator" in the process.

"I find Nick Cannon and Bre's relationship rather off-putting. Ultimately the way I live my life is very different to her as a Christian so I don't know if we will ever be super, super close friends," Lazkani said in season 6. She also claimed "creating multiple broken homes is disgusting," and later in the season, she told Bre that she thinks it's "unfair" for kids to be born into a situation where their father isn't fully present.

Despite the criticism, Tiesi couldn't be happier when it comes to her relationship with Cannon.

During a December 2024 appearance on the Wednesdays podcast, Tiesi said she ultimately didn't want a "conventional relationship," and that what she has with Cannon is the "healthiest relationship" she's ever been in.

"I'd like to be very clear, we don't co-parent, we are very much together," she added at the time. "And that's why people are confused."

All nine seasons of Selling Sunset are available to stream on Netflix.

Tom Bergeron is making his return to Dancing with the Stars for the show's 20th anniversary celebration on Nov. 11

The television personality hosted the show from its premiere in 2005 to 2019

Bergeron was let go from the show amid differing views on the show's direction

Tom Bergeron was the longtime host of Dancing with the Stars before he left in 2020.

The television personality hosted the hit dancing competition show for 28 seasons, dating back to when it premiered in 2005. However, after 15 years, he announced that he had been let go from the show amid differing opinions on casting decisions and the show's direction.

"In all candor, the show that I left was not the show that I loved," Bergeron said on the late Bob Saget's podcast in 2021. "So at the end of the season that turned out to be my last season, I kind of knew. I took everything out of my dressing room that I really wanted. ... It was kind of obvious that we were kind of butting heads [behind-the-scenes]. It wasn't a pleasant [experience]."

Although Bergeron expressed his candid feelings about Dancing with the Stars in 2021, he decided to return to the show as a guest judge on the Nov. 11 episode, celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Amid his return to the dance floor, here's everything to know about why Tom Bergeron was let go from Dancing with the Stars.

How long was Tom Bergeron on Dancing with the Stars?

Carrie Ann Inaba, Tom Bergeron, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli on 'Dancing with the Stars' in 2019.

At the same time that Bergeron was hosting America's Funniest Home Videos, he started co-hosting Dancing with the Stars when it premiered in 2005. He continued co-hosting the hit show for 28 seasons over 15 years before his exit in 2020.

While Bergeron remained a staple on the show for years, he rotated through various co-hosts. He worked with Lisa Canning for the first season before Samantha Harris replaced her for seasons 2 through 9.

After Brooke Burke won season 7 of Dancing with the Stars, she became the next co-host for seven seasons starting in season 10. Bergeron's final co-host was Erin Andrews, who worked alongside him from season 18 until they both left in 2020.

For his work as a co-host, he received nine Emmy Award nominations and took home the award once in 2012.

Ahead of season 29 of Dancing with the Stars, ABC announced that both Bergeron and Andrews would be leaving the show.

"Tom Bergeron will forever be part of the Dancing with the Stars family," ABC and BBC Studios said in a statement in July 2020. "As we embark on a new creative direction, he departs the show with our sincerest thanks and gratitude for his trademark wit and charm that helped make this show a success."

The companies continued, "Erin will also not be returning, and we appreciate all that she brought to the ballroom. Fans have been rooting for her since she originally competed as a contestant back in 2010, and her signature sense of humor has become a hallmark of the show."

Shortly after news broke of the firings, Bergeron shared his thoughts on X and wrote in a since-deleted message, "Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me. It's been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I'm grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made."

Later that year, then-executive producer Andrew Llinares further explained that Bergeron had been let go as the series "evolves."

"Any show like this that has been on for many, many seasons needs to continue to evolve," he said in October 2020, per Entertainment Tonight. "So I think changing that host is all about evolution."

He added, "It was all about making the show feel fresh, making it feel new and make it reach out to a new audience — as well as the audience that's been there for years."

What has Bergeron said about his firing since departing the show?

Prior to Bergeron's departure, he expressed his discontent with the show's decision to cast President Donald Trump's ex-White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer in season 28. He shared his thoughts on X and explained that he met with the DWTS producers to try to convince them to steer away from politics.

"Chief among them was my hope that DWTS, in its return following an unprecedented year-hiatus, would be a joyful respite from our exhausting political climate and free of inevitably decisive booking from ANY political affiliations," Bergeron wrote in a since-deleted message, adding that he "left that lunch convinced we were in agreement."

Bergeron later clarified that he was more upset with the show's decision to include politics in the first place than with the person himself and his political beliefs. He continued reflecting on the ordeal in a 2023 conversation with former DWTS pro Cheryl Burke on her Sex, Lies and Spray Tans podcast. During their candid chat, Bergeron reiterated that he was frustrated with the show's producers in their decision to cast Spicer and do "exactly what we said we wouldn't do."

"I wrote the statement that I wrote, that did not name anybody, that did not name a political party," he said of his post on X. "It merely said, 'I was told certain things when I was asked my opinion, they agreed, and now they've thrown a curveball.' I even went so far as to say it's their right to do that. They're the producers of the show, if that's what they want to do they are entitled to do that."

He continued, "They had screwed me. I'm gonna screw them. But I wanted the viewers to know this was a step too far to me. This was a step too far on the cusp of an election year. And again — had it been a Democrat, same statement."

When asked if he'd ever return to the series, Bergeron bluntly replied, "No, never," because "it's not the same show" as it was in the earlier days.

Who replaced Bergeron as host?

Alfonso Ribeiro and Tom Bergeron attend the 2024 Critics Choice Real TV Awards in June 2024 in Los Angeles.

Shortly after the network announced that Bergeron and Andrews had been let go, ABC revealed that Tyra Banks would be replacing them as the sole host.

Banks served as the host for three seasons from 2020 to 2022 before she was joined by former winner Alfonso Ribeiro beginning in season 31 in 2022.

Prior to season 32 in 2023, Banks left the show and was replaced by Julianne Hough. As of season 34, Ribeiro and Hough serve as co-hosts.

In November 2025, Dancing with the Stars stunned fans when they announced that Bergeron would be making his grand return as a guest judge — alongside Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough — for the show's 20th anniversary episode on Nov. 11.

"I'm anticipating that it's going to be a wonderfully emotional, nostalgic night," he told TV Insider prior to his return. "In the audience will be a number of past champions and competitors. There's a special dance challenge that is going to factor into the anniversary night that will evoke even more nostalgia."

Bergeron expressed his excitement and said that the night is "going to be great."

"It's so much fun to watch my friends do the work," he joked. "I don't have to throw to commercials. I don't have to worry about the timing. I'll be respectful and sensitive of what Alfonso has to deal with, 'cause I've been there. But I'm just looking forward to being in an environment surrounded by people I really care about on live television, where there's no second take. It's my happy place."

He later told Good Morning America on Nov. 5 that the show's on-again, off-again showrunner Conrad Green was the person who convinced him to return.

"He really kind of extended the olive branch and got me reminiscing about all the fond memories," he said. "So yeah, I'm looking forward to getting back."

Sometimes a casting choice practically makes itself.

Back in 2023, it was announced that Michael Jackson's nephew Jaafar Jackson had been cast to play the legendary musician in a biopic about his life slated for release on April 24, 2026. However, Jaafar is hardly the only actor to step into a famous relative's shoes on the big screen. O'Shea Jackson Jr., Colin Hanks and Mamie Gummer and more, have all paid homage to their relatives — whether that was in biopics or playing younger versions of their characters in the same project.

Below, see the stars who have played their relatives onscreen.

Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson in 'Michael'

Jaafar Jackson, son to Jermaine Jackson, will be playing his legendary uncle in the 2026 biopic, Michael, and no one is better for the job. Not only does the 29-year-old bear a resemblance to the Thriller hitmaker, but he's got access to all the people who knew his uncle best to help inform his acting choices.

O'Shea Jackson Jr. and Ice Cube

O'Shea Jackson Jr. is a spitting image of his dad, Ice Cube. But, even though he inherited his dad's famous scowl, his speech pattern and his mannerisms, the legendary rapper still had his junior audition before he got the role in the N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton.

"I auditioned for two years," O'Shea Jr. revealed while on The Drew Barrymore Show. "I had to work for it because I was just a guy off the couch and I've just been trying to make it work ever since."

Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Ralph Fiennes

Hero Fiennes-Tiffin and Ralph Fiennes

If you thought Hero Fiennes Tiffin's portrayal of Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was impressively gripping for a boy his age, it's because the thespian genes run in his family. The actor, who played young Tom Riddle, is the nephew (through his mother Martha) to actors Joseph Fiennes and, of course, Ralph, who plays the Dark Lord in the franchise.

Ali and Lindsay Lohan

These days, Ali Lohan keeps a low profile away from the spotlight, but back in the early aughts, the baby sister to Lindsay Lohan dabbled in the family business. In 2005, she played the younger version of her sister in Lindsay's music video for "Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)."

06 of 13

Tom Hanks & Colin Hanks

Comedy Central; Lacey Terrell/TriStar Pictures

Won't you be my ... father? Hilarity ensued back in 2019 when one X user noticed that Tom Hanks and his son have shared one seriously classic cardigan: The Oscar-winning star played Mr. Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, while son Colin also played the role, only on an episode of Drunk History.

M. Lamar and Laverne Cox

Netflix; Paul Shiraldi/ Netflix

M. Lamar and Laverne Cox

Over the course of its seven seasons, Orange Is the New Black looked back on Sophia Burset's life before she transitioned. Luckily for writers, Laverne Cox, who portrayed the beloved prison hairstylist, has a twin brother in real life. M. Lamar played Burset in the show's flashbacks.

08 of 13

Dascha Polanco and Dasany Kristal Gonzalez

And when they needed someone to play a younger version of Dascha Polanco's character, Daya, in Orange is the New Black, they looked to her real-life daughter, Dasany.

09 of 13

Mark Conseulos and Michael Consuelos

Katie Yu/The CW (2)

Did Mark Consuelos rent a time machine to play a younger version of himself? Seems totally plausible, but no! His son, Michael Consuelos, stepped in to play the younger version of his Riverdale character, Hiram Lodge.

10 of 13

Laurie Metcalf and Zoe Perry

Cliff Lipson/CBS via Getty; Michael Yarish/CBS via Getty

Perry and Metcalf played the same role in two series that took place decades apart. How's that possible? Well, Metcalf played Sheldon's mom, Mary Cooper, on the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory, and Zoey Perry took on the same role, only in the prequel, Young Sheldon.

11 of 13

Tina Fey and Alice Richmond

NBC (2)

Who better to play the younger version of Tina Fey's 30 Rock Character, Liz Lemon, than the younger version of Fey herself? Fey's daughter has her mom's facial expressions down.

Meryl Streep and Mamie Gummer

Just give her the Oscar now: Gummer played a younger version of her legendary mother as Lila in Evening.

Susan Sarandon won an Oscar for her role in the crime drama Dead Man Walking, which she shared with her daughter, Eva Amurri Martino.

Jewel opens up about mental health and battling anxiety

She will host the inaugural Not Alone Awards on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at The Wynn Las Vegas. The awards will stream live on iHeartRadio's YouTube

The #NotAlone Awards will honor innovators transforming the global mental health conversation

Jewel doesn't own a TV. She wakes without reaching for her phone. She teaches kids that meditation isn't a luxury — it's hygiene.

Sitting comfortably in her quiet home, the four-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, 51, appears on Zoom wearing a beanie and maroon sweatshirt, makeup-free and serene, speaking like someone who's lived through both chaos and calm — and decided that peace was worth the fight.

"I hadn't had a panic attack for decades," she tells PEOPLE softly. "Until, gosh, maybe a couple of years ago. Once I found out what my triggers are, I was able to start to really help support myself around those times."

For Jewel, who is set to host iHeartRadio's first Not Alone Awards on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at The Wynn Las Vegas with Loni Love and Bozoma Saint John, anxiety isn't an enemy. It's a messenger.

"I look at it as my body's way of telling me something," she says. "Once I started to look at anxiety as my ally instead of something I had to disassociate or repress or control, things really shifted for me."

Luther Redd

Jewel NotAlone Summit in Vegas on Nov. 10, 2025.

Her life now moves by a gentler rhythm. She journals, hikes in nature, meditates and creates art. She puts her phone down at 5 p.m.

"Waking up and looking at my texts right away is not a good thing for me," she tells PEOPLE exclusively. "That urge to wake up right away and just look at your phone — it starts getting you engaged, and that's not fun for my mental health." She laughs, a sound as calm as her words. "I got rid of all my televisions. I don't have any TVs in the house."

It's not detachment; it's discernment. "I don't think the news was actually giving me facts about the world," she says. "It was just giving me an emotional wrench."

Jewel has long turned her suffering into service. Through her Inspiring Children Foundation and the Not Alone Challenge, she builds bridges between awareness and action.

"Raising awareness about mental health without offering help is kind of just mean," she admits. "People are pretty aware they don't feel good, so now what?"

What she offers instead are tools — free, practical, and tested by her own life. Peppermint for panic and ice for grounding. Truth instead of hollow affirmation. "When I was acting for Ang Lee, I didn't know what I was doing," she remembers of the 1999 film Ride with the Devil, which marked her acting debut. She played Sue Lee Shelley in the Civil War epic, opposite Tobey Maguire and Skeet Ulrich. Lee was Jewel's first director and spoke about his guidance and support during the challenging filming process.

"If I looked in the mirror and said, 'I know what I'm doing,' my body didn't believe it. The truth was, I didn't know what I was doing. So I changed it to, 'I won't quit till I learn.' My whole being calms down when I say that."

Wesley Hitt/Getty

Jewel on May 3, 2024.

She still believes music heals. "All my songs were medicine for me," she says. "'Life Uncommon' was my own anthem for myself. 'Angel Standing By' was to help me with my anxiety. My album Lullaby was my big anti-anxiety album."

Designed to uplift, entertain and inspire, the Not Alone Awards honor innovators transforming the global mental health conversation. It will feature performances by Jewel, Flavor Flav, Rachel Platten, Alec Benjamin, JP Saxe, Cassadee Pope, Bishop Briggs and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels. Mike Tyson, Chevy Chase, Jonah Marais and Tallulah Willis are among those set to make special appearances.

An extension of Jewel's 4-year-old #NotAloneChallenge, the event continues the mission to remind people they are not alone in their mental health journey. The social media campaign provides free mental health tools and resources to those in need and has received widespread support from Billie Eilish, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lionel Richie, David Foster, Josh Groban, Tory Burch, Mark Burnett, Jake Shane and Paris Hilton.

Jewel's philosophy — equal parts grit and grace — comes from hard-won wisdom. As a teenager in Alaska, Jewel stared out over the ocean, fighting depression.

"I sat there for probably eight hours," she tells PEOPLE. "The tide went out a mile and came back in. And it suddenly dawned on me that all of nature is change. That meant I was part of the universe, and it was very arrogant of me to think I would be the only thing that might not change."

When the singer was 8, her mother, Lenedra Carroll, left the family, and Jewel and her two brothers were raised by their father Atz Kilcher (a star on Discovery's Alaska: The Last Frontier) on their 300-acre ranch in Homer, Alaska.

"I grew up in a very traditional Mormon family. But everything changed when my mom left. My dad started drinking and being physically abusive, so like hitting us, and that's what caused me to move out," the musician told PEOPLE in 2024, who previously detailed her father's abuse in her 2015 memoir. "He was in a lot of rage and a lot of yelling."

Outside of her family home, she says she also faced sexual harassment from a young age. At 8 years old, she would have men tell her, "Call me when you're 16. You're going to be a great f---," she recalls. Another time, a man slammed her against a wall after her performance at a local bar when she was 12, demanding to know if she had "cheated" on him, she said.

After years of mistreatment, she was no longer willing to put up with Kilcher's abuse, and Jewel — who opened up to PEOPLE in 2020 about reconciling with Kilcher, a Vietnam veteran who developed PTSD, after he got sober in his 60s — moved off her family's homestead and into her own cabin at 15, when she began shoplifting to survive.

Since then, Jewel has treated emotions as tides, not prisons. During the Not Alone Summit on Tuesday, Kilcher stood up in the crowd and said his greatest accomplishment was having her. "Sometimes the tide is just out," Jewel adds. "And so, you buckle in and you know it's not forever — the tide always comes back in."

Luther Redd

Jewel at the NotAlone summit in Los Vegas on Nov. 10, 2025.

In 1993, Jewel moved to San Diego, where she worked at a computer warehouse to pay the bills while pursuing her music career. Her boss fired her after she turned down his advances, and she was left broke and homeless after her car was stolen.

"It was a violent era, but the Hells Angels actually were very protective over me. But there's still violence," Jewel, who suffered from anxiety and panic attacks, kidney problems and agoraphobia (an intense fear of leaving the house alone or of being in crowded places), told PEOPLE in 2024. "It was men in positions of power from TV networks to record labels, and women faced it every day."

The harassment only worsened when her music career began taking off, and today she throws her support behind younger female artists, young adults and children in the mental health space to protect them against the abuse she endured.

Even now, as she navigates motherhood, fame and activism, her compass doesn't waver. "Nothing's worth it to me," she says. "I'm not going to sacrifice everything for my peace of mind."

Asked what she wants to change in the world, she doesn't hesitate. "Disconnection is the heart of everything," she says. "We've lost the ability to connect to ourselves and enjoy being alone. We've lost the ability to connect to one another. And we've lost the ability to connect to the planet. The only medicine I know is to help people connect."

She pauses, a smile flickering, soft, but sure. "And that's probably what I'll do till I pass."

The Not Alone Awards 2025 begins live-streaming on YouTube at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT.

James Van Der Beek is sharing some treasured pieces of his career memorabilia with fans.

The actor, 48, has teamed up with Propstore to offer fans a rare opportunity to take home cherished items from his personal collection in their Winter Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, which will be held Dec. 5–7, 2025.

The auction features items released to the public for the first time as Van Der Beek parts with wardrobe, props and set pieces that trace his career-defining moments. 100% of the proceeds from these items will go to Van Der Beek to help with the financial cost of fighting cancer. The actor and father of six was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer last year.

Dawson's Creek fans will have a chance to own the necklace Dawson gifted Joey for prom, which is estimated to bring in anywhere from $26,400 to $52,800. Dawson's pilot episode outfit is expected to bring in up to nearly $4,000, as well as other items from the series, which ran from 1998 to 2003.

"I've been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family," he told PEOPLE at the time of his cancer diagnosis. "There's reason for optimism, and I'm feeling good."

Teddy Swims tells PEOPLE in the four months since welcoming his son with girlfriend Raiche Wright, he has learned that a key to fatherhood is simply "acting like you know what you're doing, even if you don't"

"Man, he's gotten to the place now over the last couple months where he's smiling and laughing and playing now. It's just so wonderful," says the "Lose Control" singer

Wright and Swims first revealed news of their pregnancy at the beginning of 2025, then subsequently shared that they gave birth to a son in June

Teddy Swims frames his idea of confidence in fatherhood not as certainty, but as intention, through simple phrasing anyone who has been in his shoes can resonate with: "Acting like you know what you're doing, even if you don't."

The 2025 Grammy nominee tells PEOPLE in conversation as part of his recently announced partnership with Booking.com that his relatively fresh-faced experience with his own offspring has profoundly changed him as an individual in just a few short months.

"For me, I think we got a 4-month-old, so as far as Mama goes, her job right now and for the foreseeable future is just kind of being along for the ride," Swims shares, highlighting the joyous emotional progress his son, shared with girlfriend Raiche Wright, is making in strides.

"Man, he's gotten to the place now over the last couple months where he's smiling and laughing and playing now. It's just so wonderful," notes the artist. "Now when I walk into a room, he looks at me and he smiles, and he knows I'm there."

In January 2025, Swims and Wright took to Instagram and announced they were expecting their first child together.

"So happy to finally release this news. Thank you for all the love. We have the most amazing support system, friends and family," Wright wrote on her Instagram Stories, accompanied by a photo of Swims cradling her growing baby bump, at the time.

That same month, Swims told the BBC, "We're due in June, and things are great. I think we're gonna crush it."

Now, a few months into parenting, Swims recognizes his newborn's early emotional development has manifested in some beautiful fatherhood moments. He recalls a recent instance where he "just put [his son] to sleep and he finally got to bed, and then he woke up in the room alone, so he's crying, and I went and picked him up … I was like, 'Baby, you're not alone. Nobody's abandoning you, baby. Dad's right here.' And he looked at me and smiled so big."

However, he jokes their loving relationship also comes with the typical difficulties of parenting: "I couldn't get him to sleep for the next two hours because he was like, 'Oh, dad's here. That's time to play.' "

The "Lose Control" singer further admits fatherhood "is a terrifying thing." He's acutely aware of how easily he could "mess this up" — but through that awareness, he has quickly framed a steadfast perspective on how he wants his relationships with his son and girlfriend to work.

"I could so easily mess this up, but as long as I act in the right heart and the right mentality and the right intention … I just look like I know what I'm doing," he shares. Even with those natural fears, Swims remains grateful for all life has given him in terms of his family.

"Every time I look at him, I was like, 'Hey.' He just smiles at me. And I know he knows we have a relationship, which is something so incredible that's only going to get deeper and more beautiful as it goes," he shares. "It's such an amazing thing, and there's nothing like it in the world."

Swims declares, "It is the f---ing coolest. It's so fun."

As for Wright, 29, the "Bad Dreams" artist sings her praises with a high level of heartfelt intent.

"There's nothing sexier in the world. There's nothing cooler than watching her be just everything that in some ways she was always meant to be," he says of seeing Wright step into motherhood.

Swims adds that it's still "so weird to see how second nature that was from just having that baby to just falling right into this thing."

"Even down to the way that he cries, she just gets — I know what this means. I know what that moan means. I know what that cry means. She's just so in tune and so close to that baby. It's a part of her absolute being," he says.

As a whole, Swims surmises that admiring Wright as a mother is "such a wild thing to see firsthand and watch somebody because I don't think she's ever — it's like she didn't become a mother. She just was all of a sudden a mother. It wasn't like no becoming of this. It was just like it happened and then she was a mother and she just got it."

"She just knows. And I think women are just — I mean, God is a woman. That's all there is to it," he adds.

Florence Pugh has been honest in previous interviews about not doing roles like "Midsommar" again because she abused her mental health in order to play the character (in this case it was Dani, a grief-stricken American woman who has a psychological breakdown when she joins her toxic boyfriend on a trip). Now in a new interview on "The Louis Theroux Podcast," the Oscar nominee reveals the emotional exhaustion of filming "Midsommar" led to six months of depression.

"I just can't exhaust myself like that because it has a knock-on effect," Pugh said. "I think ['Midsommar'] made me sad for like six months after and I didn't know why I was depressed. I got back after shooting 'Little Women,' which was such a fun experience and obviously a completely different tone from 'Midsommar,' so I think shelved all of that. And then when I got home for Christmas, I was so depressed and I was like, 'Oh, I think that's from "Midsommar,"' and I didn't deal with it and I probably shouldn't do that again."

"Midsommar" was "Hereditary" filmmaker Ari Aster's second feature directorial effort. The movie required Pugh to play a character "in such a horrible state in her life," the actor explained, and Pugh responded by diving head first into Dani's emotional breakdown.

"I had never seen that level of grief or mental health in the way that was being asked of me on the page," Pugh said on the podcast. "So for that, I really put myself through it. At the beginning, I just imagined hearing the news that one of my siblings had died, and then towards the middle of the shoot it was like, oh no, I actually needed to imagine the coffins. And then towards the end of the shoot, I actually was going to my whole family's funeral."

"It wasn't just crying. I needed to sound pained," Pugh continued. "I'd never done anything like that before and I was like, okay, well here's my opportunity. I need to give this a go. And I would just basically put myself through hell. But I don't do that anymore. It really fucked me up."

After "Midsommar" wrapped, Pugh traveled immediately to the Boston set of Greta Gerwig's "Little Women." The Oscar nominee was overcome with emotion during the switch between movies and even broke down in tears on the flight to "Little Women's" Boston set when it dawned on her that she was leaving Dani in the past.

"My brain was obviously feeling sympathy for myself because I'd abused myself and really manipulated my own emotions to get a performance, but I also then felt sorry for what I'd done," Pugh said. "It was very, very strange and I've never ever been worried about my characters from the day that I finish. But [Dani] was the one that I felt like I'd left her in that field with the film crew just filming her cry."

Any abuse that Pugh suffered during the making of "Midsommar" was strictly self-inflicted and had nothing to do with Aster. She's always had nothing but praise for the director, once telling The New York Times last year that he's "peculiar in a mad genius kind of a way" and "a stand-up comedian at heart." She added, "Once you laugh at one thing, he will try and make you laugh at all the other things. He'll keep going and everybody will be crying in fits of laughter."
