LAS VEGAS − The Las Vegas Strip added a piece of "24K Magic."

"Bruno Mars Day" saw a large celebration of the 16-time Grammy winner as Park Avenue, the street that runs between Park MGM and T-Mobile Arena, was renamed for him.

"When I first started out, they said: 'Bruno don't play Vegas just yet, this is where entertainers go to retire. You're at the top of the charts right now, hold off, hold off," the "I Just Might" singer said in a speech at the celebration of "Bruno Mars Day." "But I said nah, I love this city so much."

During the speech, he also read a text message from his father sent the night before.

"If you’re going to say anything on the mic to the crowd, both God and people love humility, so be humble," he read. "Tell your fans it's their street."

Mars performed "Treasure" from the "Unorthodox Jukebox" album during the celebration and MGM Resorts International President and CEO Bill Hornbuckle and Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo spoke. Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson then presented Mars with a "key to the Las Vegas Strip."

A parade down the strip, from the Bellagio to Toshiba Plaza, was held in Mars' honor before the celebration.

"Now he is going to resonate with Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin," Hornbuckle said in media availability after the event. "He is our living legacy here."

Mars presented a $1 million check to Intermountain Children’s Health, a Las Vegas children's hospital. He said MGM Resorts would match the donation.

The "Just the Way You Are" singer has been a mainstay at the Dolby Live theater, which sits on what is now Bruno Mars Drive. He has performed more than 100 solo shows since his residency began there on New Year's weekend in 2016, as well as 34 concerts as a part of Silk Sonic, according to Billboard.

The event came hours ahead of the start of Mars' "The Romantic Tour" later that evening at Allegiant Stadium.

Mars is the second performer to have a street connected to the Strip named after him.

Elvis Presley Boulevard, which runs between the Fontainebleau Resort and the Las Vegas Convention Center's West Hall, connects Las Vegas Boulevard to Westgate Las Vegas. "The King," according to the resort, performed 636 sold-out shows at the then International Hotel from 1969 to 1976.

Streets named for members of The Rat Pack flank the Strip to its west. Jay Sarno Way cuts through Caesars Palace, one of two hotels he developed, connecting Frank Sinatra Drive to The Strip.
