Bruno Mars was celebrated in Las Vegas as he kicked off The Romantic Tour
The R&B superstar received a key to the city on Friday, April 10, as the day was officially declared "Bruno Mars Day"
During the ceremony where he received the key to Las Vegas, Mars also announced he was donating $1 million to the future Intermountain Health Nevada Children's Hospital

On Friday, April 10, the R&B superstar, born Peter Hernandez, received a key to the city ahead of the kickoff of his The Romantic Tour.
Mars, 40, was honored with a series of celebrations and recognitions ahead of the performance from the Las Vegas Strip and Clark County.

April 10 was officially declared "Bruno Mars Day," which honored his "deep roots and ongoing connection to the city," per a press release, and featured a series of festivities including a parade down Las Vegas Boulevard followed by a ceremony and a surprise show at Toshiba Plaza. Mars was honored for his connection to Las Vegas, where he has performed for more than a decade.
At the ceremony, Mars received a key to the Las Vegas Strip for his contributions to the city's cultural legacy. The presentation was led by senior officials, including Nevada Gov. Lombardo and Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson, reflecting the significance of the recognition and Mars' deep connection to Las Vegas.

Mars was also honored with a rare tribute as Park Avenue was officially renamed "Bruno Mars Drive." Previously, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. had streets dedicated to them.
"Bruno Mars isn't just a global superstar—he's one of the most electrifying performers of our time, and over the past decade he's become an integral part of Las Vegas," said Bill Hornbuckle, chief executive officer and president of MGM Resorts International, in a statement, per a press release.

"From his early performances at Bellagio and MGM Grand to his record‑setting residency at Dolby Live, Bruno has drawn hundreds of thousands of visitors and has created the kind of unforgettable, ‘only in Vegas' moments that define this city."

He concluded, "It's only fitting that we help launch his world tour here today as we honor his extraordinary impact on Las Vegas and the energy he brings to our community."
Mars also revealed a $1 million donation to the future Intermountain Health Nevada Children's Hospital at the ceremony, which will support "lifesaving care, advanced pediatric programs, and expanded access for children and families across the state," per a release.

At the launch of his tour on April 10, the "Just the Way You Are" hitmaker performed a hit-filled 25-track setlist, which included five songs with his Silk Sonic collaborator Anderson .Paak, who made a surprise appearance during the show.

Mars released his latest album, The Romantic, in February. The record debuted atop the Billboard 200 and became his second No. 1 album.
He is set to tour through Dec. 8, where he will conclude his run with four shows in Mexico City at Estadio GNP Seguros.
