Is Kevin Durant playing today? Latest injury update on Rockets star

Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant has missed most of the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers and a similar pattern is expected for Game 6.

Durant missed Game 1 with a right knee contusion, an injury he sustained during practice a day before the game. He scored 23 points in a Game 2 loss, but suffered a left ankle sprain that has kept him sidelined for Games 3, 4 and 5.

The pain in his ankle will likely keep him from competing in the potential elimination Game 6 in Houston. League sources told ESPN's Shams Charania that Durant will not play, as the Rockets trail the Lakers 3-2 in their best-of-seven series. Durant was listed as "doubtful" on the NBA injury report as of 10 p.m. ET, April 30.

The Rockets have won the previous two matchups against the Lakers after falling down 3-0 in the series. A Game 7 is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, if necessary.

Durant's timetable for a return was a minimum of two weeks, sources told Charania. He first suffered the ankle injury on April 21. If the Rockets can force Game 7, it would be just days before the two-week mark given for Durant.

The Rockets have won back-to-back games without Durant, though, led by their young, future core of Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr., Reed Sheppard and Alperen Sengun. Smith led Houston with a team-high 22 points in the Rockets' 99-93 Game 5 win in Los Angeles. Thompson led the Rockets with 23 points in their 115-96 Game 4 win in Houston.

Durant, 37, averaged 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 78 games during the 2025-26 regular season.

The couple was first reported to be romantically linked beginning in August 2025

Zoë Kravitz was spotted with her new accessory in New York City.

On Monday, April 27, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the actress and director, 37, and Harry Styles, 32, got engaged. The confirmation followed photos of the High Fidelity actress spotted out with new bling on her hand during the couple's recent outing in London.

Then, on Thursday, April 30, Kravitz was photographed taking a stroll in New York City, with her new diamond ring peeking out from under a brown suede fur-lined jacket. The actress kept her look casual, pairing the cozy jacket with black pants, black boots and a black leather tote.

Jewelry experts have shared their thoughts and examinations of the ring, with some experts believing the diamond weighs between five and 10 carats. They believe it is either a radiant or cushion-cut stone with a yellow gold bezel setting and band—and could cost upwards of $600,000.

Kravitz and Styles were first linked in August 2025, when they were spotted walking arm in arm in Rome. That same month, Deuxmoi reported that the pair had been spotted kissing at Rita's in London the week prior.

At the time, a source told PEOPLE that the former One Direction singer was "spending time with Kravitz while she's been on her [Caught Stealing] press run." Since then, they have been spotted together several times in London and New York City.

Katherine Pierce was a staple of the *Vampire Diaries* universe. But at one point in the series, the writers had to fight to tell more of her story.

"We had to negotiate for the right to let Nina [Dobrev] play Katherine again because the season 2 Katherine [story] had really taken everything out of her and the network was being very protective," executive producer Julie Plec says about the show's fifth season during episode 5 of *EW's Binge: The Vampire Diaries*. "[The network] and studio were being very protective and they were like, 'You can't do that anymore, you can't have Katherine.'"

On an earlier episode of the podcast, Dobrev spoke about how exhausted she was at the end of season 2, the first season in which she played both Elena and Katherine in the present day. So when it came time to make Katherine human and even introduce a third Petrova doppelgänger, the writers had to get creative. "We had to basically beg the network to let us even write story for Katherine," Plec says, noting that "the triplegänger made the whole thing worth it."

Fans will remember that season 5 featured Katherine taking over Elena's body, which meant that for a good chunk of the season, Dobrev only had one character to play. And then, eventually, Katherine met her demise, a decision that also came about following those negotiations. "I literally think we had to say we'll kill her in order to get permission to use her," Plec recalls.

Additionally, during the podcast, Plec discusses the choice to have Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) be the two characters who "die" together at the end of season 5, which led to a discussion about Bamon, the popular ship. "Bonnie and Damon had a thing in the books we had sort of always said, 'We don't buy a romantic connection between Bonnie and Damon because Damon's just done too many terrible things and Bonnie just has more integrity than that,'" Plec says. "But we wanted to service that relationship in the canon a little bit."

WASHINGTON, April 30 (Reuters) - A U.S.-Iran ceasefire that began in early April has "terminated" hostilities between the two sides for the purposes of ‌an approaching congressional war powers deadline, a senior official of President Donald Trump's administration ‌said on Thursday.

Trump faced a deadline on Friday to end the Iran war or make the case to Congress for extending it, but the date was most likely to pass without altering the course of the war.

"For War Powers Resolution purposes, the hostilities that began on Saturday, February 28, have terminated," said the official, describing the administration's thinking.

There has been no exchange of fire between the U.S. armed forces and ‌Iran since a fragile ceasefire began more than three weeks ago, the official added.

Earlier, analysts and congressional aides had said they expected Trump to notify Congress that he planned a 30-day extension or to disregard the deadline, with the administration arguing the ceasefire marked an end to the conflict.

The 1973 law allows the president 60 days to wage military action before ending it, seeking authorization from Congress or asking for a 30-day extension on grounds of "unavoidable military necessity" for the safety of ‌the armed forces.

The Iran war began with airstrikes launched by Israel and the United States on February 28. Trump formally notified Congress of the conflict 48 hours later, triggering a 60-day deadline of May 1.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told a Senate hearing on Thursday he understood that the 60-day clock stopped during the truce. Opposition Democrats disputed that, saying there was no such legal provision.

The ‌U.S. Constitution says only Congress, not the president, can declare war, but the curb does not apply for operations the administration casts as short-term or countering an immediate threat.

Trump's Republican Party holds a narrow majority in both ‌chambers of Congress. Democrats have tried since the war began to pass resolutions to force Trump to withdraw U.S. forces or obtain congressional authorization.

Republicans have voted them down.

Iran responded to the February 28 attacks by the U.S. and Israel with its own strikes on Israel and Gulf ‌states that host American bases. U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and Israeli attacks in Lebanon have killed thousands and displaced millions.

Former Dancing With the Stars competitor Cheryl Burke is giving fans an update on her dating life and celibacy journey before celebrating her 42nd birthday.

“I am dating myself, and so far it’s going too good,” Burke, 41, exclusively told Us Weekly on Friday, May 1, while attending Calamigos Ranch Resort & Spa’s Leading Hotels of the World accreditation celebration. “I don’t know if I ever want to be dating again, to be quite honest, but if it happens, so be it. I’m not searching, that’s for sure.”

The dancer continued, “I will never do a dating app. I don’t even know what that is. All I know is that I look at my phone enough that if I put a dating app on there, you’ll never get my eyes ever. I’ll turn cross-eyed. So there you go.”

Burke has been voluntarily celibate since her 2022 divorce from Matthew Lawrence. The two met in 2006, started dating in 2007, broke up in 2008, reunited in 2017, got engaged in 2018 and walked down the wedding aisle in May 2019.

Cheryl Burke Says She Hasn’t Been on a Date in Over 1 Year: ‘Zero Interest’

“I learned you can’t buy love,” Burke previously told Us in an August 2025 cover story, adding that her decision to avoid dating is proof that she needs “to heal still in that sense.”

“I touch myself all the time,” Burke continued back in 2025 when asked if she missed being intimate with someone else. “It’s great. We are good to go. There’s no emotional baggage that comes with it.”

On Friday, Us asked Burke if she is still on her celibacy journey.

“Still going strong,” she said, adding that “just for my own self-respect and life for myself” her decision to be celibate has “absolutely” been a positive one.

“I think it’s power when it comes to that type of stuff,” she continued. “And I think it’s something that I needed my whole life, so giving it to myself now, there we go.”

As Burke continues to focus on herself, she maintains her Dancing With the Stars fandom despite leaving the reality competition series in November 2022 after 26 seasons.

“I would love to see more creators join the show. I think that there's a new definition when it comes to celebrity,” Burke told Us. “I think having people like mental health gurus come on. I would love to see Jay Shetty get jiggy with it. I think it's important to mix it up. But they're doing great. Whatever they're doing, obviously is working.”

Everything Cheryl Burke Has Said About Dating and Love After Matthew Lawrence Split

After Dancing With the Stars pro Val Chmerkovskiy exclusively told Us that he hopes to see “less” politicians compete on the show, Burke said she agreed.

“I think maybe it's probably best not to involve politics," she explained. "This is a show that's a feel good show, and right now, I think it's just very touchy, right? That's all I want to say about it.”

Tori Spelling is taking the time to be present and appreciate life after she was involved in a car crash with her kids and in the wake of her ex Patrick Muldoon’s untimely death.

“You have to celebrate it,” Spelling, 52, exclusively told Us Weekly on Friday, May 1, while attending Calamigos Ranch Resort & Spa’s Leading Hotels of the World accreditation celebration. “And I think life’s too short, and we’re all realizing that lately. So, yeah, you have to celebrate every day. “

Us previously confirmed that Spelling and seven children in her vehicle were hospitalized after being involved in a car accident. Four of her kids and three of their friends were transported in three separate ambulances, according to the actress’ rep. (Spelling shares Liam, 19, Stella, 17, Hattie, 14, Finn, 13, and Beau, 9, with ex-husband Dean McDermott. McDermott also shares Jack, 25, with ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace.)

“On April 2, 2026, at 5:44 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 28000 block of Rancho California Road regarding a vehicle collision,” the Riverside Sheriff’s Department said in a statement provided to Us at the time. “Upon arrival, deputies located two vehicles with collision damage. All occupants were medically evaluated at the scene.”

Tori Spelling Breaks Her Silence on Car Accident That Sent 7 Kids to Hospital: ‘Really Overwhelming’

The 90210 star broke her silence days later, calling the crash and aftermath “really overwhelming.”

“We are so grateful and so lucky because it could have been so much worse,” Spelling said in a video shared via social media on April 7. “Guardian angels were definitely with us that day because in a split second I looked and saw he was going to full on impact into the side of our car. And I turned hard left as hard as I could, as fast as I could, to avoid as much impact on the children as possible. He spun us out.”

Weeks later, Days of Our Lives actor Muldoon died on April 19 following a heart attack. Spelling remembered her ex, who she met on a blind date, in a touching social media post.

“This post took me a couple days,” Spelling, 52, wrote via Instagram on April 21. “I wasn’t ready to write because then it felt real. And, this shouldn’t be real. @thepatrickmuldoon and I met on a blind date. Which thankfully wasn’t a blind date at all because we were both on a tv series. Like every other girl in the world I crushed on his character Austin from Days of Our Lives. Not sure I ever disclosed that to him.”

She continued, “What I met and ultimately fell in love w/ was not just a beautiful on the outside creature but the most beautiful soul. He was special and one of a kind. The kindest most caring human w/ raddest weird sense of humor. We got each other! Laughed a lot ! I laughed w/him and at him and he loved it. Was multi talented. Passionate about everything he did.”

On Friday, Spelling told Us that despite her recent hardship and loss, she is looking forward to the future.

“Well, I can wait on this one but one day, one day, one day, I can't wait to grow our family and be a grandma and a great grandma,” she explained. “We had a small family growing up. I obviously have a big family now. I've seen through my older kids finding their partners and getting to know their family.”

Tori Spelling Breaks Down in Tears: ‘I Don’t Want to Die Alone’ After Dean McDermott Divorce

She added, “I'm like, ‘Oh my gosh, I see the future’ and it's not right now, but I can't wait to be that grandma and great grandma, and have so many grandchildren and babies running around and cooking for them and celebrating life with them.”

In the more immediate future, the actress says she’s looking forward to celebrating Mother’s Day with her children.

“Just being with my babies and doing what they want to do,” she added.

Hulu is more than just a fun thing to shout if you are in an echoey canyon. (Try it.) It’s one of the finer streaming services, with great new movies and access to terrific television shows, some of which are produced in-house.

But if you look a bit further under the hood, you’ll find a deep well of offerings, including a surfeit of what I like to call modern classics. (The not-very-strict definition of which is: a beloved movie that hit theaters at some point after my birth.)

Naturally, how “classic” these movies may seem depends on your age. For some of you, you were already a thriving member of the workforce when these films debuted. For others, your parents hadn’t even met yet. Or maybe they met… at one of these movies? Wow, that would bring this all full circle.

Anyhow, the good news is that right now, there are several classic movies waiting for you to stream on Hulu. Here are 10 recommendations.

Beaches (1988)

Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey have a philosophical argument about post-Labor Day fashion in 'Beaches'Credit: Everett Collection

This is more than just a delivery method for the ubiquitous ballad “Wind Beneath My Wings.” This much-beloved story follows Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey as C.C. and Hillary, two women who couldn’t be more different but have been BFFs since childhood. Well, minus the times when they aren’t speaking to one another — but that volatility is what makes the whole thing work.

C.C. is a showgirl, Hillary is a human rights lawyer, and they both have ups and downs with romantic partners and careers. Please keep a box of tissues handy for the ending, as Garry Marshall plunges into hardcore weep mode during the final segments. “Flyyyyyy… flyyyyyyyyyyy awayyyyyyyyy!”

Dead Poets Society (1989)

Robin Williams sizes up a desk that he wants to pounce on (like a cat) in 'Dead Poets Society'Credit: Everett Collection

“O Captain! My Captain!” Somehow, in 1989, a movie about privileged rich kids at a private school made sense as a celebration of nonconformity.

Starring Robin Williams at his most sincere and directed by the great Australian auteur Peter Weir, this modestly budgeted tale exploded into a major box-office hit, and introduced wide audiences to Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard, and Josh Charles.

Did it kickstart a youth craze for poetry recitations? Well, let’s not go that far, but it did get a lot of kids to stand up on their desks in search of a different point of view.

The Insider (1999)

CBS News gets journalistically compromised in the midst of a corporate merger. No commentCredit: Everett Collection

If, when you do something for the first time, it makes you heave and cough, it is clearly bad for you. That said, the tobacco industry did all it could for a very long time to convince consumers to ignore common sense. Michael Mann’s slick journalism thriller The Insider is a fascinating look at the individuals who worked to prove just how insidious the economics of poison can be.

Russell Crowe is phenomenal as troubled whistleblower Jeffrey Wigand, Al Pacino is at his short-fused best as television producer Lowell Bergman, and Christopher Plummer rattles the room with gravitas as the face of righteousness, 60 Minutes anchor Mike Wallace.

La Bamba (1987)

First 'The Buddy Holly Story,' then 'La Bamba.' How about some justice for the Big Bopper?Credit: Columbia Pictures/Everett

Released nearly a decade after The Buddy Holly Story, La Bamba sheds light on one of the other stars who perished on “The Day the Music Died,” Ritchie Valens.

Mexican-American pop icons were few back in the 1950s, but Valens’ rise to success on the backs of the crooner hit “Donna,” dance number “Come On, Let’s Go,” and, most importantly, an arrangement of the Mexican folk song “La Bamba,” makes for a thrilling and heartfelt musical biopic.

The movie launched Lou Diamond Philips’ career, while Los Lobos’ recording of the title song became a surprise sensation, helping sustain the already terrific group on their decades-long career.

Murphy’s Romance (1985)

James Garner likes Sally Field, he really likes her in 'Murphy's Romance'Credit: Everett

This romantic comedy starring Sally Field and James Garner was quietly revolutionary for its time, a rare Hollywood production that showed characters “of a certain age” that were still capable of being romantic and sexy. Set on an Arizona horse farm, the film stars Field as a struggling divorced mother and Garner as the local pharmacist, a widower.

There aren’t many explosions or chase sequences, just lived-in characters, terrific dialogue, and damn fine acting, which made this one of the more beloved unexpected hits of the era. Also keep your eyes open for Carole King in a small role (she’s also on the soundtrack).

Predator (1987)

Still no match for Arnold SchwarzeneggerCredit: 20th Century Fox/courtesy Everett

Thought experiment: Imagine knowing nothing about this movie, missing the opening minute or two of the landing spaceship, and watching this thinking it’s just about a group of mercenaries in Central America … until they start disappearing thanks to a ferocious alien beast! You would have so many questions. (Some will never be answered, like why Arnold Schwarzenegger is called “Dutch” and not “Austrian.”)

The special effects in this film are only matched by the muscles from Arnold, Carl Weathers, Bill Duke, Jesse Ventura, and more. After watching this you will never order someone into a helicopter the same way again.

Pretty Woman (1990)

Julia Roberts in an outfit that is only allowed at polo matches or the Kentucky DerbyCredit: Ron Batzdorff/Touchstone

This $14 million movie made nearly half a billion in early ’90s dollars, proving that no one can truly predict what makes a hit.

Richard Gere is at his most charming as a wealthy but emotionally detached businessman who hires the services of a “woman of the night” and ends up falling in love. She is played, of course, by Julia Roberts, who rode this film directly into America’s heart, becoming a household name as the adorable damsel who needs rescuing from her life of disreputable work.

It would be interesting to watch this with a politically active 22-year-old to get their take. For many, though, it’s pure nostalgia.

Raising Arizona (1987)

This cop and this crook would make mighty fine parents. They'll even steal a baby to prove itCredit: Everett Collection

Everything about this zany comedy is perfect, from Nic Cage’s hair to Holly Hunter’s accent, from the yodeling to the opening credits not showing up until the 11-minute mark, and the camera flying around like crazy during a heist-chase involving… diapers?

Raising Arizona proved the Coen brothers’ first independently produced film, Blood Simple (1984), was no fluke. These were filmmakers with a singular perspective who packed every frame with energy and wit. Howling John Goodman emerging from the mud after a jailbreak remains one of the finest moments in cinema.

Saving Private Ryan (1998)

*whispering to date while watching 'Saving Private Ryan' when Private Ryan appears on screen*: 'That's Private Ryan'Credit: Everett

Some cinephiles may disagree, but there are movies that may be best watched at home, and Saving Private Ryan is potentially one of them, particularly if you have any anxiety issues. The opening Normandy Beach landing sequence is rightly celebrated, but it’s also… a little intense!

Nearly three decades later, though, that scene and the other battles still pack a punch, as do the in-between stretches where people are not blowing one another up. Credit is due to the remarkable performances by Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Ed Burns, Giovanni Ribisi, Vin Diesel (yes, that’s right, Vin Diesel), Tom Sizemore, Jeremy Davies, Adam Goldberg, and more.
