No one's safe on April Fools Day — not even the person pulling the prank.

Jenna Bush Hager learned this lesson the hard way after attempting to pull a fast one on guest cohost Willie Geist during the April 1 broadcast of* Today with Jenna & Sheinelle. *During the Wednesday morning segment, Hager, Geist, and editor Arianna Davis were running down a list of trending topics when they turned their attention to an (allegedly) viral cake that people have been shilling out thousands of dollars to get their hands on.

But what Geist didn't know is that *Today* made up the "famous" cake and its bakery.

"We've got to talk about this viral cake that's being walked in, very carefully," Geist said as *Today* culinary producer Katie Stilo carefully walked out with the intricate two-layer cake, topped with macaroons, strawberries, gold flakes and caviar.

"This is a $20,000 cake," Davis told the live studio audience. "It is all the rage right now on the internet, because they only make one of these every single day."

As Davis spoke, Stilo motioned for Hager to lend her a hand, pretending to struggle over the cake's weight. Jenna helpfully jumped up and took the platter in both hands — before dropping the cake in its entirety.

"Oh my gosh," Jenna exclaimed, as the cake flopped on the ground. Making matters more dramatic — and tragic — Jenna immediately slipped on some of the spilled frosting, barely catching herself on a nearby chair.

Behind the camera, crew members, and the audience members snickered.

The prank did succeed in shocking Geist, whose jaw fell open when Hager fell. But immediately, he schooled his expression into a look of suspicion.

"Well, there goes the one cake," Davis laughed. "$20,000, Jenna."

But Geist was already onto them and leaned down to help Hager up before declaring, "April Fools!"

He then commended Hager on her commitment, adding, "Good job."

"You knew?" she asked

"Only after you went down," Geist replied.

"Well, I did get it all over my shoes. I really committed," Hager said, confirming that her icing mishap was not part of the plan. "The fall was real. We tried to trick Willie."

"The commitment from Jenna Bush Hager to take this spill for the cause," Willie later said, requesting a slow-motion replay. "Can we see that one more time?"

Geist admitted that prior to the fall, he truly believed that a trendy $20,000 cake had arrived on the scene, noting, "Upstairs, I was like, 'You know, it's a crazy world out there, someone's going to buy that for their wedding. Maybe it's real.' I was locked in until you went down."

Apologizing to the crew for the prank's failure, Jenna turned to where the show's next guest, Sharon Stone, was waiting in the wings, quipping, "I'm so embarrassed. You want some caviar?"

Hager added, "Sharon, please don't judge us."

Eugene Mirman, the comedian who's voiced the character of Gene Belcher on the animated Fox series *Bob's Burgers *since it debuted in 2011, was trapped in a burning vehicle Tuesday in Bedford, N.H.

The New Hampshire Division of State Police explained in a news release that the 2026 Lucid Gravity that Mirman was driving struck the Bedford Toll Plaza on the F.E. Everett Turnpike. Witnesses called 911 reporting that the vehicle was on fire with a person trapped inside.

State troopers responded to the incident at 11:55 a.m.

Mirman was pulled through a window of the burning car by a state trooper assigned to New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte's security detail, who happened to come across the crash.

Officials said the 51-year-old Mirman, who they referred to by his birth name of Yevgeny, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Col. Mark B. Hall praised the trooper, who was not named "due to the nature of their position."

"Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did," Hall said. "Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it."

No charges have been filed in the incident, which continues to be investigated.

As Gene Belcher, Mirman is the son of main character Bob Belcher (H. Jon Benjamin) and his wife Linda (John Roberts), as well as the brother of Tina (Dan Mintz) and Louise Belcher (Kristen Schaal).

In addition to his signature project, Mirman is known for his recurring work on HBO's *Flight of the Conchords*, on which he first appeared in 2007, as well as Adult Swim's *Delocated*, FX's *Archer*, and many other series, some animated and some not.

He appeared in *The Bob's Burgers Movie* in 2022.

Mirman has also released comedy albums and stand-up specials, including* Here Comes the Whimsy*, which came out in February.

- *The Valley* season 3 premieres Wednesday, April 1, on Bravo.

- Original cast member Jax Taylor will not be returning after separating from Brittany Cartwright.

*The Valley* is a *Vanderpump Rules* spinoff following several alums of the beloved Bravo reality series as they build lives beyond the walls of restaurant SUR. When its third season debuts on April 1, though, the sun-soaked drama will be missing one of its foundational characters.

Jax Taylor, the controversial and hot-headed bartender-turned-bar-owner who helped turn *VPR* into must-watch television, will not appear in season 3 of *The Valley*. This likely won't come as much of a surprise to fans, as Taylor's journey has been a rocky one from the start.

Just before *The Valley*'s 2024 premiere, it was revealed that Taylor and Brittany Cartwright were separating after six years of marriage. As such, the first season unfolded like a slow-motion car crash, with in-the-know fans watching the slow dissolution of their union.

Season 2 proved to be even messier, with Cartwright angling for a divorce as Taylor voluntarily checked into a rehab facility for substance abuse issues, particularly with cocaine. Through it all, arguments abounded over the divorce, their finances, and the custody of their son, Cruz.

So, why isn't Taylor returning for season 3 of *The Valley*? Here's what we know.

Why isn't Jax Taylor in The Valley season 3?

On July 16, 2025, roughly a week before *The Valley*'s season 2 finale, Taylor announced he wouldn't be returning for the show's third season. "Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting relationship," he said in a statement. "Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz."

A source told PEOPLE at the time that the cast was "blindsided" by Taylor's departure. Cartwright, meanwhile, told host Andy Cohen six days later on *Watch What Happens Live* that she "found out the night before" and thought it was a "great decision." Cartwright described their relationship as "horrible," saying there was "no trust whatsoever" between them.

Cohen revealed on his radio show, *Andy Cohen Live*, that he, too, agreed with Taylor's decision, citing the star's "need for control and his anger issues."

He added, "I hope he takes the time to lean into this, away from the cameras."

Taylor, however, is keeping the door open for a return. "This is not goodbye, this is just a pause on things," he said on a July 2025 episode of his podcast, *In the Mind of Jax*. "The more I talk about it with everybody, it just didn't seem to make a lot of sense for me to walk right back into filming. I just don't see a world where it makes sense for me to walk back into a dynamic like that."

Cartwright doesn't appear particularly eager to share the screen with him again. During a BravoCon panel in November, she declared he would "absolutely not" appear in season 3, and told *Entertainment Tonight* that the news of his departure came as a "big relief."

She also addresses his absence in the season 3 trailer. "Now that Jax is gone, I am finally getting my sparkle back," she declares.

Not officially. Cartwright filed for divorce in August 2024 and, as of this writing, the process is still ongoing.

The good news is that, as of March 2026, the pair finalized a custody agreement for Cruz. As PEOPLE reports, the couple will share joint legal custody and physical custody. They will also work together regarding the child's health, education, and general welfare, and promise not to "speak badly of each other in front of their son."

It's about to be a whole new world for a couple of Port Charles residents.

In a series of episodes stretching from late April into early May, Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and his girlfriend Emma (Braedyn Bruner) take an excursion to New York City, where they're received by Gio's old friend Michael James Scott (as himself). The actor — who's played Genie in the stage musical since 2019 — will later repay the favor with a trip to *General Hospital*'s fictional setting of Port Charles.

The crossover is a sizzling bit of Disney synergy: *General Hospital*'s longtime network, ABC, was acquired by Disney in 1995, and *Aladdin *is based on the 1992 animated feature that's considered one of the high points of the so-called "Disney Renaissance."

Gio and Emma take off to NYC on April 23's episode, and reunite with Scott on the April 24 episode. Scott then heads upstate to Port Charles on May 4's episode.

Here's how Disney's new 'Aladdin' does Genie without Robin Williams

In the storyline, Gio whisks Emma away to the big city on a romantic rendez-vous. A skilled violinist, Gio once played in a Broadway orchestra pit, where met and befriended Scott.

*Aladdin *celebrated its 12th anniversary on Broadway on March 20. The musical — also starring Rodney Ingram (*Jane the Virgin*) in the title role, Sonya Balsara (*FBI*) as Jasmine, and Dennis Stowe (*Tales of the City*) as Jafar — has been housed at the New Amsterdam Theatre throughout its run. That's where Gio and Emma encounter Scott.

During his visit to Port Charles, Scott breaks into a jazzy rendition of "Friend Like Me" — popularized on screen by Robin Williams — on stage at Curtis Ashford's (Donnell Turner) swanky club, The Savoy.

Scott has previously appeared on series like *The Carrie Diaries*, and lent his voice to animated projects like *Central Park *and *South Park*. He's currently appearing as Nurse Dubois on the the revived 10th season of *Scrubs*. He'll make his final appearance as Genie in *Aladdin *on May 3.

That's not the only significant date wrapped up in this crossover: Wednesday marks *General Hospital*'s 63rd anniversary on the air.

The series premiered on ABC on April 1, 1963, making it the longest running TV soap still in production. That's just nine years shy of the record set by *Guiding Light*'s 72-year run on TV and radio from 1937-2009.

Ciara Miller may be going through a rough time after her ex West Wilson and fellow *Summer House* star Amanda Batula confirmed their rumored romance on social media, but she's still got the support of her reality TV crew.

Paige DeSorbo was among the many voices hyping up the ICU nurse in the comments of her Instagram reel posted Tuesday night. The video showed Miller working the red carpet at the season 2 premiere of the Apple TV series *Your Friends & Neighbors*, during which she questioned the show stars on various aspects of their characters' journey. In the beginning of the footage, star Jon Hamm asks Miller how she's doing, and she quips, "Well, I've been better."

Miller took to her caption to make light of her costars' bombshell reveal, captioning her video from the show's event, "If you can't trust your Friends & Neighbors, who can you trust?"

"Ur perfect," DeSorbo, close friend to both Miller and Batula, commented an hour after Miller posted the video on Tuesday. *Summer House* costar Lindsay Hubbard echoed the sentiment with her comment, "Perfection 👑"

Former *Real Housewives of New York City* star Brynn Whitfield shared her appreciation for Miller's witty caption, commenting, "I see what you did there 😍❤️," while media personality and host Nina Parker wrote, "You know what HELL YEAH. Get all the things mama!!!"

The romance reveal came weeks after gossip blog DeuxMoi reported that Wilson and Batula were allegedly hooking up.

The rumor created ripples throughout the *Summer House* fandom due to Wilson and Miller's very public breakup after dating for a few months during season 8. Although their brief dalliance following Wilson's addition to the cast in 2023 ended on less-than-friendly terms, the pair have maintained a will-they-or-won't-they vibe ever since.

In the show's latest season, multiple cast members wonder if the pair are getting back together, with Wilson being notably disturbed when approached by costar Jesse Solomon about possibly kissing Miller if given the chance.

"[Miller] is one of the kindest, most loving, loyal friends I've ever had. She sends me texts out of the blue, reminding me how strong, powerful, smart, and kind I am — I don't think she even realizes how much I need those texts," Batula said in an interview with *Marie Claire*. "It's also meant so much to me how supportive West has been throughout the season, sometimes in ways I wasn't even aware of when filming. It's not performative; it's just really authentic to who West is."

While Miller hasn't spoke out about the drama, Cooke recently broke his silence about his ex's new relationship, saying that he was "more concerned" about his ex than his own feelings. "I'm obviously disappointed in her... but just hearing her and hearing how unwell she is, and [her] dark thoughts, I just ask people to just, maybe, pull off the gas a little on the cyberbullying and hate."

Cooke said that he found out about the relationship "over the weekend" and got a heads-up before Batula and Wilson posted their statement. Reality dating shows are awash in debauchery and unsavoriness — just look at what's going on with *The Bachelorette *— so thank goodness for *Love on the Spectrum*. It's easily the most wholesome dating show on TV, and season 4 is now streaming on Netflix.

The Emmy-winning series centers on neurodivergent singles and couples as they dip their toes in the dating pool and come to understand what they want (and need) in a partner.

"The show itself has actually become the template for people to then think, 'That's what love can look like in my life, and I can be like that character who doesn't necessarily fit the typical stereotype,'" co-creator Karina Holden told Netflix's Tudum ahead of the new season. "The uniqueness of individuals within *Love on the Spectrum* has allowed people to be confident to pursue their version of relationships and friendships and love." **

Born and raised in the Salt Lake City area, 22-year-old Emma lives at a school in Provo, Utah, for neurodivergent adults. The school, she explains in an Instagram introduction, has taught her kitchen, gardening, and cleanliness skills.

On the show, she says she's "liked boys" since she was just 3 years old, and wants to find love because "it's an amazing feeling."

Her room is outfitted with *The Nightmare Before Christmas* swag, and she cites a love for *Gilmore Girls* and Taylor Swift. She also nurses a passion for acting, music, and her Mormon faith.

After going on several dates throughout seasons 2 and 3 of *Love on the Spectrum*, sword-enthusiast Connor fell head over heels for Georgie, a dog lover who served as a calming presence for the emotional Connor.

Connor and Georgie are still seeing each other in season 4, though he and his mother, Lise, spoke with PEOPLE last year about the couple's communication issues.

"He's been getting some mixed signals from her, he wants to have a talk with her. The navigating female signals has been a little bit of a hurdle, so they need to set up a time," she said.

Things seem to be going well, though, as season 4 finds them traveling to London to meet his grandfather.**

James is *Love on the Spectrum*'s longest-running cast member, with his search for love dating back to the show's first season. In season 3, however, he found a connection with Shelley, with whom he shares a love for renaissance fairs. The pair are still a couple coming into season 4, and even discussing moving in together.

"We feel like we're kindred spirits," James said in a December 2025 interview. "We always feel so calm, comfortable, and relaxed around each other."

He went on to describe their love as being akin to "two trees — the trunks stand apart, but the branches grow together."**

- *American Idol*'s judges, host, and even a past winner are all reacting to Monday's shocking non-elimination.

- At the end of season 24's 10th episode, Ryan Seacrest announced that for the first time in *Idol *history, no one would be going home due to an "unprecedented" amount of votes from the new social media system.

- "We broke the machine that we created to get all the votes," judge Lionel Richie remarked.

After 24 years on the air, *American Idol* is still full of surprises.

Monday's episode of the ongoing 24th season culminated in an *Idol *first. When it came time for host Ryan Seacrest to announce who would be leaving the competition, he revealed that in fact, there would be no elimination.

After a "truly unprecedented" number of votes poured in via a new social media system, Seacrest announced,"To ensure complete accuracy with the numbers, I was literally just told we are not going to announce eliminations tonight."

Judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan were all shocked. The contestants were shocked. Even Seacrest looked shocked! As the dust settles before what is likely to be a double elimination next Monday, Seacrest, Richie, Underwood, Bryan, and season 23 winner Jamal Roberts are all reacting to the polarizing moment.

"They handed me the card and they said, 'There's no results on that card for you to reveal, because there's so many coming in for social vote. To get it right, we've got to push it to next week. Go!'" Seacrest recalled to ABC's *On The Red Carpet** *after the episode.

"We broke the machine that we created to get all the votes," Richie added, noting the newness of the social media voting system, which was implemented in season 24 after the *Idol *app was discontinued, and with it, the app-based voting system.

Bryan noted, "We as judges, we're very much in the dark on what's going on when the votes are coming in. I'm sure it was pretty shocking looks on our faces." He then pointed out he "knew they were needing more time for something" when Seacrest uncharacteristically pivoted to a question-and-answer round before the results were announced.

"Most of the time Ryan comes back in and we get down to the business of seeing who goes to the next round," Bryan explained.

"On one hand, two people don't go home tonight. Two more people. On the other hand, they have to wait another week to figure out if they're in the top 12," she said.

Even more reactions poured in on Wednesday with the launch of the *American Idol Official Podcast*. *Boy Meets World *and *Dancing With the Stars *alum Danielle Fishel, who hosts the podcast, opened the inaugural episode by explaining that after each Monday's *Idol*, she'll speak with the eliminated contestant.

"Except for tonight, because in a surprising turn of events, nobody went home! That was a decision that was made very unexpectedly right before the show ended," she said. Fishel's first guest, season 23 Jamal Roberts, also threw in his two cents on the matter.

"I don't know if my season would have took that too well, we were already stressed out," he joked. "I think going home was the easiest thing we could have done. We wouldn't have made it."
