The month of July saw ratings wins for Fox News against direct cable news competitors MS NOW and CNN. The network averaged 2.33 million primetime viewers and 1.499 total day viewers for the summer month. In comparison, MS NOW brought in an average of 1.02 million primetime viewers and 636,000 total day viewers, while CNN averaged 658,000 primetime viewers and 465,000 total day viewers.
With these numbers, Fox News brought in 39% more primetime viewers than both MS NOW and CNN combined.
In the key Adults 25 to 54 demo, Fox News averaged 204,000 primetime viewers and 137,000 total day viewers. This was a 4% and 3% increase, respectively, compared to June. CNN had an average of 102,000 primetime key demo viewers, up 3% from June, and an average of 62,000 total day key demo viewers, which was down 2% from June.
Meanwhile, it was not so good news for MS NOW, which brought in an average of 89,000 key demo primetime viewers and an average of 57,000 key demo total day viewers, both down 7% compared to last month.
Fox News’ numbers even beat the broadcast networks in primetime. For the month of July, NBC averaged 2.5 million primetime viewers, ABC averaged 2.3 million primetime viewers, and CBS averaged 1.9 million primetime viewers. It’s worth noting, though, that the broadcast networks’ evening newscasts are at 6:30/5:30c, which is before primetime.

Fox News programs held the top five spots in monthly news ratings. The Five won the month with an average of 3.31 million viewers and 300,000 key demo viewers. It was followed by Jesse Watters Primetime with 2.98 million viewers and 267,000 key demo viewers, and Gutfeld!, which averaged 2.63 million total viewers and 249,000 demo viewers.
Fourth place went to Hannity with 2.55 million total viewers and 238,000 demo viewers, followed by Special Report With Bret Baier, which averaged 2.52 million total viewers and 224,000 key demo viewers.
