Michelle Branch teamed up with Maren Morris for a surprise performance of “Goodbye to You”
The duo performed at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Saturday, Aug. 15, where Morris was celebrating the 10-year anniversary of her major-label debut album Hero
Branch also announced 17 more dates for her Everywhere and Back Again Tour
Michelle Branch was a surprise guest during Maren Morris’s recent show — and it was all we wanted!
On Saturday, Aug. 15, the “Everywhere” hitmaker joined the “Parachute” musician at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium as she celebrated the 10-year anniversary of her major-label debut album Hero.
During the performance, Branch, 43, joined Morris, 36, on stage to perform her 2001 track “Goodbye to You.”
“As a songwriter, the very special person I’m about to bring out has made many meaningful impressions on me,” the “Carry Me Through” singer said before Branch arrived on stage, per a press release statement. “We weren’t very far apart in age and she made it seem very possible to do this at all. Nashville, y’all give it up for Michelle Branch.”
Morris added, “If you had told me, me in my room watching MTV and TRL, that we would be here tonight and you would be playing my childhood guitar, it’s nuts. But you approached me about doing this song and we may have recorded it.”
In Instagram footage shared by the “Everywhere” hitmaker on Monday, Aug. 17, Morris, barefoot and clad in a sheer white dress with black undergarments, could be seen harmonizing the chorus with Branch, who sported a matching leather jacket, skirt and combat boots.

Branch also teased that a version of the song featuring Morris would appear on her forthcoming Everywhere and Back Again EP.
“What an honor to share the stage with my friend @marenmorris at her incredible 10th anniversary show at the Ryman on Saturday night!” she captioned the post. “She reimagined “Goodbye To You” for Everywhere and Back Again and I am completely obsessed with her version of it!! Can’t wait for you all to hear it 💙.”
In a statement, Branch said that she’s admired Morris’s “talent as a writer and performer” for a long time.
“Having written this song in my teenage bedroom, it’s wild to hear it delivered from the perspective of a woman who really knows what these lyrics mean. It brings a whole new weight to it. And I’m so honored she invited me to sing it with her at the Ryman, she delivers such an emotional powerhouse vocal on this track, I can’t wait for it to be released,” the “Breathe” performer said of the reimagined version.
On Tuesday, Aug. 18, Branch announced a 17-date second leg of her sold-out Everywhere and Back Again Tour in addition to her nearly 20-date, sold-out fall run.
“Announcing leg two of the Everywhere and Back Again tour has been the hardest secret to keep! I’m blown away by all the love for the tour and ‘Game of Love.’ Can’t wait to see you all out on the road. This is just the beginning,” Branch shared in a statement.
The new shows will kick off on Feb. 25 in Charleston, S.C. and will include Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Feb. 27, before returning to Los Angeles’ The Wiltern on March 13 and New York City’s Beacon Theatre on March 25.
The artist presale for the tour dates will begin Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. local time, followed by Live Nation and Ticketmaster presales (where applicable), at noon local time. Local and venue presales will begin on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. local time, with all presales concluding that night at 10 p.m. local time.
The general public will be able to purchase tickets on Friday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. local time. More information on ticketing can be found here.

For the shows, Branch has partnered with PLUS 1, which will donate $1 per ticket to The ALS Association and their work making ALS livable and curing it.“I’ve chosen to support The ALS Association because I’ve watched my own father suffer and ultimately die from this horrible disease. This is the very least I can do to help hopefully find a cure,” she said in a statement.
Branch’s Everywhere and Back Again EP is due Nov. 6 via BMG.
