Bruce Springsteen shared an encouraging update about his wife, Patti Scialfa, following her diagnosis.
At the annual Pan-Mass Challenge, a cycling event that raises funds for cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Bruce, 76, recorded a video message accompanied by an acoustic performance of "Born to Run."
"We're a little late, but here we are and it's a pleasure to be with you," the rock legend said in the featured clip. "Since 1980, you have inspired a community that has done something remarkable. You've never stopped believing that ordinary people can make an extraordinary difference. And because of that countless lives have been saved." This follows Bruce's ongoing MAGA criticisms during his shows.

Later in the video, the iconic musician revealed that his wife Patti, "has been living with her multiple myeloma for over eight years, but now thankfully she is in remission."
The Born in the U.S.A singer then noted there are "millions of families facing cancer," emphasizing the importance of remembering that "hope has a face."

Bruce added, "It's our physician who refuses to stop searching and caring, [and] it's our nurse who sits beside us when we're scared and always makes our journey just a little bit easier."
He continued, "I've spent my life writing songs about the people who keep believing when life gives them every reason not to and for those who refuse to leave someone behind. That's always been the best of America to Patti and I. Now, more than ever, the world needs more everyday heroes like the folks who make up the PMC."
Bruce revealed his wife's health struggles in the documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in October 2024, disclosing that she had received her diagnosis back in 2018.
"This affects my immune system so I just have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go," his wife Patricia stated in the 2024 documentary. "Every once in a while, I come to a show or two and I can sing a few songs onstage, and that's been a treat. That's the new normal for me right now, and I'm okay with that."
Also in October 2024, Bruce acknowledged that Patti's diagnosis inspired him to speak about the significance of embracing life during his appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of the documentary at the Academy of Motion Pictures Museum.
"Hey, you get up around our age, and those are the things you're thinking about," he told the audience at the time. "Patti and I have had to deal with her illness, and you're worried about... it is a part of your life now, questions of mortality, and it just becomes a part of your life."
