Melissa Auf der Maur reveals the surprising way she and Courtney Love truly connected for the first time in her new memoir.

In the book, titled Even the Good Girls Will Cry (out now via Da Capo), the former Smashing Pumpkins and Hole bassist recalls how she and the Hole frontwoman "bonded" in 1994 while on tour with Nine Inch Nails.

While in Cleveland during that tour, Auf der Maur, 53, recalls Love, 61, deciding she wanted to check out the "goth scene," so the duo went out for the first time in public together.

According to Auf der Maur, they ended up in the back office of a nightclub, which she claimed had an "unmade bed, a tanning bed, and a shower."

There, she claims men offered her and Love "drinks in plastic cups" and were pointed toward lines of white powder on a table.

Although Auf der Maur claimed to have only a small amount of experience with cocaine, she decided to partake.

After a girl allegedly asked Love to join her in the shower, the two bandmates ended up heading back into the club and into the bathroom.

While in the stall, Auf der Maur claims Love slipped her a pill to "take the coke edge off."

Soon, the musician and author felt the room spinning and she decided to retreat to her room at the hotel.

Auf der Maur claims she ended up waking up to hotel security opening her door and Love at the end of her bed telling her she was worried about her because she disappeared.

As the Basilica Hudson founder came to, she saw vomit in her garbage can and was "so disoriented and sick."

In a moment of frustration, Auf der Maur tells Love how she's been trying to get away from her mother for 22 years and yells at her to leave her room.

But Auf der Maur realizes that she and Love "bonded for the first time, which led her to f--- me up, which then led to her coming to my rescue."

According to her, that night opened a new pathway for her and Love when she unearthed one of Auf der Maur's "hidden vulnerabilities: my mother."
