Bachelor in Paradise couple Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile are opening up about their decision to forgo a prenup.
During the March 26 episode of their podcast, Not Married to This, the former reality stars tackled the topic of prenuptial agreements. Amabile, 39, began by sharing his stance, saying, "I kind of look at a prenup — and I think a lot of people do — like you're going into this with an exit strategy already, and that is not how you should be entering a marriage."
Pitt, 28, agreed that it's "the old-fashioned way of looking at it."
"Our parents' generation was like, 'If you're getting a prenup, you're essentially saying I don't believe that this marriage is gonna last forever' — which we now know that 50% of marriages end in divorce, and no one gets married thinking they're going to get divorced," she explained. "So, the odds are most people who don't expect to get divorced, get divorced."

Ambile went on to point out that the couple already had "a lot of paperwork" because Pitt is Canadian. "You had to apply for a visa, we had to do all that, so to add a prenup on that seemed like a lot of extra paperwork."
Pitt then admitted that she has "a lot of mixed feelings" about the fact that she and Amabile don't have a prenup.

"Do I think that we're going to get divorced? No, of course not," she said. "I love you so much. You're my best friend. I hope that we stay together forever. However, you just can't know what's going to happen 20, 30, 40 years down the line."

She continued: "So, the reality is, there is always a possibility that we get divorced. Do I see that happening, or do I hope it happens? Of course not, but that's just the reality — that it could happen."
Pitt said she ultimately decided against a prenup after thinking about it a lot and having a "long conversation" with her dad.
She and Amabile, who got engaged on season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise, married in an intimate courthouse ceremony in New York City in October 2022. They tied the knot for a second time at The Cedar Room in Charleston, S.C., in September 2023, joined by 134 guests.

At the time, Amabile told PEOPLE the wedding celebration was "the happiest moment of our lives," while Pitt described it as "a magical day."
Months after marking their second anniversary in 2024, Pitt revealed that the romance hadn't stopped since the two said "I do."
"There's so many things about him that I thought may die off after the honeymoon stage," Pitt told PEOPLE. "Joe still just continues to surprise me with little gifts and thoughtful gestures, and that really is who he is, and I love that."
Amabile then chimed in playfully, "She steals the comforter from me every single night."
