"I mean, I am really seeing like, I'm seeing so much that affected me in my real life through watching this show," she said on a recent podcast
Added Garth of watching herself on the show: "Yes, it's a character, but these are young actresses and actors and going through the intense emotions"
Jennie Garth is recounting the challenges of navigating tough storylines on Beverly Hills, 90210 while coming of age in real life.
In the Friday, Mar. 27 episode of their 90210MG podcast, co-host Tori Spelling said Garth's character, Kelly Taylor, "has been through so many storylines," adding that rewatching the show can be strange.
"Even though I'm Tori, you're Jenny, and that's Donna and Kelly ... it's just such a mind f going in and out of these stories," Spelling, 52, said.

"I mean, I am really seeing like, I'm seeing so much that affected me in my real life through watching this show — even though, yes, it's a character, but these are young actresses and actors and going through the intense emotions of all these terrible things that each of them go through, they've gotta have an impact, not on just me, but on other people that were doing this," Garth added.
Spelling responded that acting is a bit like repressing something, saying: "I'm trying to liken it to real life when something is happening and you're kind of repressing and so you're, like, taking the emotional and verbal abuse, but you're still fine. So that would be, like, what it would be semi like for a character and an actor playing that role."

"Like, it's seeping in somehow, but you're like, 'That's not me.' And you leave it, but you don't leave it. It just it blurs into your soul," Spelling said.
Garth then added: "Yea. I think that happened."
Beverly Hills, 90210 ran from 1990 to 2000 and starred Spelling, Garth, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty and Tiffani Thiessen.
Spelling has previously discussed how hard it is to rewatch herself, though she's said she's learned to love the process. In an earlier episode of their podcast, Spelling admitted, "It was hard to watch myself when I was young."
"I think it was just a confidence thing. So now I'm finally able to watch it as if — we watch this as fan girls. It's as if we're not a part of it and we're just watching it and enjoying it," the 51-year-old continued.
"Now I'm like, 'Gosh, I really like Donna Martin. I would have been friends with her.' "
