The landmark anniversary season of the reality competition series that started it all is finally in full swing, and the brutal battle for ultimate bragging rights has already claimed its first Tribal Council victim and seen its first big injury. Jeff Probst told EW that season 50 was "the most fun I've ever had on any season of *Survivor*." He credits that to the cast, noting: "This is the only returning player season where the players had real joy and gratitude for being invited back." And our joy and gratitude would skyrocket if a true wild card like Coach, Q, or Angelina can somehow find a way to pull it off. —*Dalton Ross, Editorial Director*

- Zack Snyder is glad *Batman v. Superman* didn't have "all the edges shaved off it by the focus groups."

- The filmmaker also told critics who call his fan base "toxic" to "go f--- yourself."

- He added that it's possible that he could return to the DC Universe one day: "I would never say that there's no way."

It's been nearly a decade since *Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice* polarized moviegoers, but director Zack Snyder remains as proud of it as ever.

The filmmaker recently discussed the controversial crossover movie at length, standing by creative decisions that turned some audiences off of his vision for the DC universe.

"My 100 percent honest reaction to *BvS* and how it's received in the world is… Do you really want a movie that's [had] all the edges shaved off it by the focus groups?" Snyder said during a conversation with Josh Horowitz on the *Happy Sad Confused* podcast. "Do you really want a movie that has [had] decisions made in the boardroom, or tested ideas are being rendered for your enjoyment? Do you really want the Kmart version of your story? Is that what you really want?"

*Dawn of Justice* — as well as Snyder's other DC movies, *Man of Steel* and *Justice League* — received criticism for unconventional renderings of beloved superheroes, including a Batman (Ben Affleck) who shows no remorse after murdering his enemies and a Superman (Henry Cavill) with a darker edge than comic books have typically given him.

Snyder indicated that the film's unusual handling of its iconic characters, plus its somber mood and grim violence, caused a headache as it was being rated.

"We were trying for the PG-13 [rating] for the movie, [but] the MPAA kept kicking the movie back to us, saying, 'It's still an R, it's still an R,'" the filmmaker recalled. "I'm like, 'What are you talking about? We're taking everything out!' And I remember someone saying we got a report from the MPAA saying like, 'We just don't like the idea of Batman fighting Superman. So that kind of makes it an R.'"

Snyder recalled the ratings board objecting to several details in the pivotal battle between the two heroes, noting that they considered it "rude" when the characters slammed into radiators and sinks during their skirmish.

"We should've realized then that we were kind of kicking the zeitgeist in the nuts a little bit," he said. "That we were going to anger people, because not only do they not want their heroes deconstructed, they don't want their heroes battling each other on a road to deconstructing the 'why' of their existence. That is another sacrilege."

Although Snyder had a vision for sequels to *Justice League* that never came to fruition, he said he always intended for his iteration of the DC Universe to conclude. "This was a mythological universe that we saw had an ending," he said. "It was like a flower. It was gonna bloom and be glorious and then die. And then we would have been done with it."

Henry Cavill in 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice'

However, Snyder later likened his DC mythos to a different plant that exists independently of James Gunn's rebooted cinematic universe. "That three-movie trilogy is a weed that just won't die," he said. "It grows on its own and has its own life and is not concerned, I don't think, with James' *Superman*, which is amazing."

Snyder also said he cannot completely rule out returning to DC, as he already overcame seemingly insurmountable obstacles to realize his vision for *Zack Snyder's Justice League* — his retooled 2021 director's cut that required additional photography and a massive VFX overhaul.

"I would never say that there's no way," he said. "I would never, because I was on the ride that created *Justice League*. And if you were in my shoes, there were numerous times, dark times, when I would say there is no chance that there will ever be my version of *Justice League*… cost, politics, everything stood against it. And yet, it exists."

***Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our EW Dispatch newsletter.***

Snyder noted that the Snyder Cut materialized only because of fervent fan outcry, also reiterating his appreciation for his supporters raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention after his daughter Autumn died by suicide in 2017.

"The fans should never forget that they did that," he said. "We raised a ton of money for suicide prevention, and they really did a lot of good. And I think that they catch a lot of flak for being toxic or whatever, but they literally saved human lives. So you can go f--- yourself if that's what you think."

Jennifer Garner joined Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026

During the episode, she discussed her beloved role as Jenna Rink in 13 Going on 30

The 53-year-old actress revealed that she hasn't seen the full movie in over two decades

More than two decades after its release, 13 Going on 30 remains one of Jennifer Garner's most beloved films, but she hasn't actually sat down to watch it in decades.

While chatting with Kylie Kelce on the Not Gonna Lie podcast, Garner made a surprising confession about the fan-favorite romantic comedy. Despite the movie's lasting popularity and constant replays on streaming and cable, it's not one she often revisits. In fact, she revealed she hasn't watched it all the way through since it first came out in 2004.

"You know what's weird?" she told Kelce, 33, during the episode. "I haven't watched it since the premiere in full."

That, however, doesn't mean Garner has avoided it entirely. Over the years, the actress explained, she has occasionally revisited small moments when required for work. "There have been times where I've had to talk about a certain scene or something, and so I've gone back and watched that scene, and I don't know why I haven't sat down to watch the whole thing," she admitted.

Released in 2004, 13 Going on 30 tells the story of 13-year-old Jenna Rink, who magically wakes up as a 30-year-old magazine editor navigating adulthood in New York City. The film's playful fantasy and heartfelt romance helped cement Garner as a rom-com favorite and made Jenna a character fans still adore. So where does Jenna rank among Garner's many roles? When asked directly, she didn't hesitate.

"Oh, I mean, she gosh, I mean, she's one or two. She's right up there," she shared. "Yeah, because how magical? I just remember coming up with things in the moment and playing so much. There was so much joy in the creation of her and of that set in general. So yeah, she's up there."

Still, the top spot in Garner's heart may belong to Sydney Bristow, the undercover spy she portrayed on Alias.

"Sydney Bristow…she might be number one just 'cause she changed … my life because people cared. It was the first thing I ever did that people really cared about, but more than that, she gave me this sense of self and confidence," Garner told Kelce.

"I had such girl-next-door energy that I'd never had a swagger, and she made me have a swagger, and I think it's really important for young women to find, recognize and know how to use their own swagger," she added.

Anna Cathcart has some advice for her XO, Kitty character.

Cathcart shared a piece of advice she would give Kitty ahead of the Netflix series' third season while speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Lunar New Year Gold Celebration hosted by Gold House in New York City on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

"She just needs to calm down a little bit," Cathcart says. "I feel like Kitty has the most chaos [sic] of anyone I know, and that's what we love about her."

"But also, girl, you need to sit down sometimes," she adds. "Take a deep breath, it's okay. She kind of always has been [that way], but in a controlled way, I guess. She handles it well."

In the To All the Boys spinoff series, Kitty Song-Covey moves to Seoul to attend the Korean Independent School of Seoul (K.I.S.S.) and reunites with her long-distance boyfriend Dae, played by Choi Min-young. When things don't go as planned, Kitty sets out to find new friends and build a life in the South Korean city.

Season 2 of XO, Kitty ended with Kitty receiving a scholarship to K.I.S.S., securing her return to the school for her senior year. The finale sees Kitty about to confess her feelings to Min Ho, played by Sang Heon Lee, before he joins his brother pop star Joon Ho, played by Peniel Shin, on tour. When Kitty asks if she can come along, viewers are left on a cliffhanger.

"I know we left fans on a cliffhanger at the end of season 2 but I can promise season 3 will be worth the wait, including our first summer episode," season 2 showrunner Jessica O'Toole said at the time of the renewal, per Deadline. "Not to mention plenty of romance, friendship, adventure … and kissing. Lots of kissing."

The show, which premiered in May 2023, was renewed for a third season on Feb. 14. Netflix announced the renewal in a video posted online.

Cathcart noted she is "so, so excited for everyone to see season 3" and teased what fans can expect to see from Kitty in the upcoming season.

"I'm finally allowed to talk about that because it's been a secret forever," the star said. "So very excited and I think they're going to be surprised, but also super happy. So I can't wait."

"[Kitty's] making some big decisions in her life and it's senior year, all of that, so I'm very excited for them to see," Cathcart added.

Season 3 of 'XO, Kitty' will drop on Netflix on April 2.

Rachell 'Valkyrae' Hofstetter turned a childhood love of video games into a full-time career after realizing her streaming income had surpassed her traditional jobs

What began on Twitch grew into financial freedom, allowing her to retire her mother and expand into acting, fashion and executive leadership

Now, as the head of Hihi Studios and a co-owner of 100 Thieves, she's focused on building lasting creative projects far beyond the screen

At 34, Rachell "Valkyrae" Hofstetter can still trace her career back to a single moment from her childhood.

"I was 6 years old. I was at a babysitter's house," Valkyrae tells PEOPLE exclusively, noting that the babysitter's daughter handed her a controller, and something clicked. "I just got addicted ever since. Just never stopped."

What began as a pastime eventually became the foundation for a life she could not have imagined — but long before she was leading companies or walking red carpets, Valkyrae was juggling shifts. She worked at a bank, an arcade, a carwash and waited tables, all while enrolled part-time in community college. A job at GameStop, however, felt closer to her interests, as did her small gaming Instagram page, where she posted about new video game releases.

When followers suggested she try live streaming on Twitch, the idea immediately appealed to her. "That sounds easier. You just go live. You don't have to edit anything," she remembers thinking. "You just play the games and people hang out and chat. And that was 11 years ago."

Valkyrae gaming.Credit: Valkyrae/Instagram

At one point, Valkyrae was balancing three jobs while going live on Twitch whenever she could. For a while, it was simply something she squeezed in between shifts, until one day, she checked her bank account and was shocked by what she saw.

"I was just looking at my bank account. And the money I was receiving from streaming just started overtaking my 9-to-5 jobs that I've had," she recalls.

"I realized I was like, 'Wow, I could probably quit one of my jobs,' " she adds.

Despite quitting her job at the bank and the car wash, Valkyrae continued working at GameStop for a while, as it complemented her online world. "It just worked so well," she says. But eventually, she faced the realization that she didn't "need this anymore" and within two years of starting, she was streaming full-time. Now, Valkyrae has over 11 million followers across platforms.

Gaming, however, did more than replace a paycheck. "It's insane how much it's changed my life," Valkyrae tells PEOPLE. "It's literally made me who I am today." With her earnings, she was fortunate enough retire her mother. "All of her bills and everything I pay for…she's completely covered," she reveals, noting that she also bought her mother and sister homes.

Opportunities soon extended beyond streaming. Valkyrae's first major fashion moment was a seven-page spread in Vogue Philippines, an experience she still calls surreal. Voice acting roles followed, including work on the animated film Goldbeak and an appearance in The Family Plan alongside Mark Wahlberg. Each project widened her reach, but she never lost sight of the medium that started it all.

In 2018, Valkyrae joined 100 Thieves as its first female creator and later became co-owner. Today, she also leads Hihi Studios, the media company she founded to develop original projects across comics, webtoons, film, television and gaming. "We are working on a video game, which I'm excited for," she tells PEOPLE, hinting at what's ahead.

Valkyrae.Credit: Yu Tsai

Still, her ambitions stretch far beyond the screen. "One of my long-term goals, before I die, I would love for my company to be part of a project that wins an Oscar or an award someday," she shares. Whether it's an animated feature, a short film or something entirely unexpected, Valkyrae wants to help build it from the ground up. "What's great about Hihi Studios is that since it's a media company, we can do anything," she emphasizes.

While her name recognition has helped launch all these ventures, Valkyrae is increasingly drawn to the creative engine behind them. "I want to be more behind the scenes," she explains. "I don't even want to be in it. Just be part of something really cool and creative."

What started with a 6-year-old holding a controller has grown into an ecosystem of businesses, storytelling and financial freedom. For Valkyrae, gaming was never just a hobby; it was a door.

"I know this is just the beginning," she tells PEOPLE. "I'm gonna do this for the rest of my life."

Love movies? Live for TV? USA TODAY's Watch Party newsletter has all the best recommendations, delivered right to your inbox. Sign up now and be one of the cool kids.

From Randy's rules to survive a horror movie and the "Stab" franchise-within-a-franchise to resident iconic masked menace Ghostface, the "Scream" films have spent 30 years tackling scary flicks in the most meta fashion.

With OG final girl Sidney Prescott (played by Neve Campbell), intrepid reporter Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and lovable lawman Dewey Riley (David Arquette), director Wes Craven's original 1996 film took pop culture by storm. It set the stage for three decades of important reveals, notable cameos and gory kills that kept audiences on the edge of their seats.

The masked menace Ghostface returns to hunt down an old foe in "Scream 7."

"Scream 7" (in theaters now) features Sidney squaring off yet again with her nemesis Ghostface. Now, however, her teen daughter Tatum (Isabel May) is at risk when the villain tracks Sidney down to her quiet new hometown. Which means a fresh body count, a mix of old and new faces, and another surprise assailant under Ghostface's hood.

But where does the new slasher rank in the franchise? Here's every "Scream" movie so far, from worst to best. (The first six films are all streaming on Paramount+.)

7. 'Scream 3' (2000)

In "Scream 3," Gale (Courteney Cox, right) teams up with Jennifer (Parker Posey), the actress playing her in "Stab 3."

By the time "Scream" reached the end of its first trilogy, it became a quasi-parody of itself. Ghostface goes on a killing spree with the cast of "Stab 3," and Sidney is pulled back into the fray to deal with the carnage, plus has to grapple with new facts about her dead mom. (She also meets her half-brother and, yeah, not the greatest family reunion.) Leaning too hard into the comedy, Craven's final "Scream" was underwhelming but the series needed to go away for a bit to come back stronger.

6. 'Scream 7' (2026)

Sidney (Neve Campbell) and her police-chief husband Mark (Joel McHale) are concerned when their teen daughter is targeted by Ghostface in "Scream 7."

Original "Scream" writer Kevin Williamson directs the latest effort, which finds Sidney relocated to small-town Indiana, where she's built a new life for herself. Naturally, Ghostface comes calling again, targeting her daughter Tatum (Isabel May) – who's 17, the same age when Sidney was targeted – and Mom is forced to deal with faces from her past. "Scream 7" weaves in elements of AI and deepfake technology to ratchet up the tension, but dull supporting characters, a formulaic plot and a lack of the usual cleverness expose a tired franchise in need of a shake-up.

5. 'Scream' (2022)

OG main character Dewey Riley (David Arquette) needs to get his lawman mojo back in 2022's "Scream," the fifth installment of the franchise.

Although confusing, calling the fifth movie "Scream" is fitting since it's essentially a franchise reboot. After younger sister Tara (Jenna Ortega) is attacked by Ghostface, who's targeting those connected to Woodsboro's bloody past, Sam (Melissa Barrera), boyfriend Richie (Jack Quaid) and a new crew work with the returning Sidney, Gale and Dewey to save the day. No. 5 interestingly tackles the evolution of "elevated horror" and creates scintillating family ties, but ultimately lacks the originality and wit of the best "Scream" outings.

4. 'Scream 2' (1997)

Timothy Olyphant (left), Jamie Kennedy, Neve Campbell, Jerry O'Connell and Elise Neal star in "Scream 2," which unleashed Ghostface's slasher shenanigans on a college campus.

The original film's cold-blooded opening with Drew Barrymore gets a ton of love, but the sequel's answer doesn't disappoint, with the introduction of the "Stab" films and poor Jada Pinkett getting knifed in the middle of a movie theater. This one takes Sidney and the gang out of Woodsboro and graduates them to college, where Sidney gets a less-murderous boyfriend (Jerry O'Connell), Ghostface of course shows up on campus and the final reveal gets a little too complicated.

3. 'Scream VI' (2023)

Ghostface follows sisters Sam (Melissa Barrera, left) and Tara (Jenna Ortega) to New York City in "Scream VI."

Jason took Manhattan back in the day, so why not Ghostface? The sixth "Scream" follows Sam and Tara to New York City after they survived No. 5, and so does the nefarious villain. This one tries hard, digging into the effects of survivor trauma with different characters, and the big-city environment gives the franchise a welcome locational refresh. That said, it really misses Sidney (after Campbell turned down a role in a pay dispute) and the mixed bag of victims/suspects lacks personality.

2. 'Scream 4' (2011)

Anna Paquin (left) and Kristen Bell were some of the new blood introduced in "Scream 4."

After the lackluster third chapter, Craven and "Scream" gots their mojo back with a bunch of new blood and a smart take on online celebrity and the growing appeal of social media. It's the 15th anniversary of the original Woodsboro murders, Sidney returns for the festivities (and a book tour stop) and teens are again being targeted by Ghostface, including Sidney's cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and the kid's horror-loving bestie Kirby (Hayden Panettiere). Also, the best Ghostface killer reveal of them all except for, of course ...

1. 'Scream' (1996)

Neve Campbell (with Rose McGowan, right) became an instantly iconic final girl in 1996's first "Scream."

The reason why we're seven "Scream" movies deep at this point is because the first one was a chef's kiss of humor, violence and clever chutzpah. Thanks to Craven and Williamson, a simple phone became a hellish source of doom for Sidney as Ghostface pops up on the anniversary of her mother's death. Chaos reigns in Woodsboro as the bodies pile up, and a stressed-out but determined Sidney scrambles to find the killer before it's too late. The movie's self-awareness, though, was what separated it from its gory peers, and the way "Scream" upended expectations made the characters and their world appealing to both horror fans and scaredy-cats alike.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Angourie Rice shares how working with Jennifer Garner on The Last Thing He Told Me has shaped her as an actress

In the Apple TV series, Rice and Garner play Bailey and Hannah, respectively, a stepdaughter and stepmom who develop a special bond

Rice says that Garner embodies her nurturing, motherly character in real life, which she admires

Angourie Rice is opening up about her bond with Jennifer Garner.

After two seasons portraying Bailey, the stepdaughter of Garner's Hannah in The Last Thing He Told Me, Rice, 25, tells PEOPLE that she continues to look up to her 53-year-old costar as a role model.

"Something I learned so much from watching Jen work on The Last Thing He Told Me is she's genuinely so committed to maintaining friendships in the industry in a way that's really real and not at all superficial," Rice says. "Not just with actors, but with crew members as well."

"In season 2, we had Judy Greer join the cast, and obviously Jen and Judy did 13 Going on 30 together, but also the costume designer for The Last Thing He Told Me worked on 13 Going on 30," Rice continues. "Jen was good friends with one of the sound technicians on our show and people in the camera department. She's just so caring in really making those friendships real and making them last. I admire that so much, and it inspires me so much."

Garner previously told PEOPLE that several of the people she works with today, she first met on her 2001 breakout series Alias.

"This industry moves so fast," Rice says. "You're on a movie for two months and then you say goodbye, and you feel like you're never going to see them again. But you had this special connection and bond, and to know that if you put in the work to make those relationships last, then they will."

"It's also like it's not closed off, either," Rice notes. "It's like, here are her people and also here's this new person, and you are also welcomed into the circle, which is so nice."

Season 1 of The Last Thing He Told Me, which was based on Laura Dave's bestselling novel of the same name, saw Garner's Hannah Hall struggle to navigate life after her husband, Owen Michaels (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), vanished, leaving only a note for her to protect his daughter Bailey (Rice).

While Bailey and Hannah have a tense relationship at first, they return to season 2 having developed a deep, mother-daughter connection, which Rice says mimics their real-life dynamic.

"That's one of my favorite things about season 2, is that Hannah and Bailey have such a strong relationship now and they are a family unit," Rice shares. "I have such a great relationship with my mom personally, so to see a great mother-daughter relationship on screen and to play that feels so special."
