Patricia Heaton responded to criticism about her gray hair, saying she’s embracing aging authentically without hair dye

The 68-year-old actress shared a video to Instagram after receiving a comment that stated she was "too young for gray old lady hair"

"Let me just say, there are some things that come along in life that I've just decided to embrace. And that doesn't include boxed hair dye," the Everybody Loves Raymond alum quipped

Patricia Heaton has a response to some social media critics who were "very concerned" about her gray hair.

On Wednesday, May 27, the Everybody Loves Raymondalum, 68, shared a video in response to an Instagram commenter who wrote that she was "too young for gray old lady hair."

"OK, regarding that," Heaton began the video, referring to the comment. "Some of you seem very concerned about the silver in my hair."

"But let me just say, there are some things that come along in life that I've just decided to embrace. And that doesn't include boxed hair dye," she quipped.

"The people in my life love me no matter what color my hair is," the actress continued. "And maybe we could all use a little more of just accepting what is and being grateful."

"Just sayin'…" she wrote in the caption of the video, adding a few hashtags, including "#GreyHairDontCare," "#AgingAuthentically" and "#SilverFox."

Heaton costarred on Everybody Loves Raymond alongside Ray Romano as husband-and-wife duo Ray and Debra Barone, who shared a daughter and two sons. Their family dynamic was explored in each episode, oftentimes with appearances from other relatives, including Ray’s parents (the late Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts) and brother (Brad Garrett).

Heaton has previously spoken to PEOPLE about her time on the show, including how she developed her onscreen chemistry with Romano and their other costars to create one of the most popular TV families.

"We have this wonderful relationship. Whatever was happening in the writers' lives at home, they would write stories about that," Heaton said in June 2025. "And so it was like that with all of us. I'd get a script and it would be just what I was going through at home with my husband."

She continued to share a moment where the lines between fiction and reality were blurred in 2004.

"I remember there was one time Ray was going to do a movie with Gene Hackman called Welcome to Mooseport and there was a wonderful actress who was playing his love interest," Heaton said, referring to ER alum Maura Tierney. "I remember thinking, 'I think I'm jealous of that actress. He’s cheating on me.' So that was sort of the closest I think it got to having a husband-wife relationship."

Heaton has also previously addressed the idea of doing a potential Everybody Loves Raymondreboot, joking to Yahoo! Entertainment last year, "Why didn't I ever get on a show that could be rebooted? Because it seems like everybody [else is]."

"It was just sort of perfection — and you don't wanna mess with perfection," she added of the beloved CBS sitcom. "We've lost so many cast members, you couldn't reboot it because it won't be the same show."
