- Barry Manilow admitted to having "only" one facelift.
- "One of my old friends, his mother said, 'I always knew he was talented, but when did he get so handsome?'" quipped Manilow in an interview with the *Los Angeles Times*.
- Months before, the "Copacabana" singer was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer and underwent a lobectomy weeks later in early 2026.
Barry Manilow works hard — and has had some work done.
The "Copacabana" singer admitted that he did get exactly one facelift in a May 27 interview with the *Los Angeles Times*. When asked if he had "no work done," Manilow responded, "No! I must say: There was one time when we lived in L.A. that I did do a facelift."
Since the facelift, Manilow has gotten some touch-ups. "After that it’s just been a little here, a little there," he added.

The Grammy winner then clarified what he means by "work."
"'Work' is like a facelift, and I only had one of those. The rest of it — I see something falling down, sure, I’ll do that. I’m as vain as anybody else."
"One of my old friends, his mother said, 'I always knew he was talented, but when did he get so handsome?'" quipped Manilow.

In December 2025, Manilow was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer, which resulted in the 82-year-old singer rescheduling the dates for his farewell tour. He spoke about undergoing a lobectomy weeks after being diagnosed in a March interview with PEOPLE.
"I don't remember it, thank goodness, because it was a nightmare," he said of his seven days in the ICU following his lobectomy. "I'm one of the lucky ones; I don't have to have chemo, radiation and all that stuff."

The diagnosis made Manilow take a step back and reflect. “You just don’t even think about [how fragile life is]. And suddenly, you have lung cancer. But I’m still here. I’m not all here; there’s part of me that isn’t here — they took out a part of me, and now I’ve got to figure out, ‘What do I do?’"
He added in part, “It has really, really made me take stock of my life. This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend? All of those cornball things that I’ve read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks."
“And the answers are yes. And as a matter of fact, there are more yeses than I ever thought.”

Elsewhere in his interview with the *Los Angeles Times*, Manilow gave fans a glimpse at what his day-to-day life has been like following the surgery. He hasn't been able to go back to touring just yet.
"Ninety minutes of screaming in tune, which is what I do for a living — I’m not up for that yet," he told the publication. "I will be, but it’s taking a long time to get my voice back. They warned me that I’d have to learn to breathe again. So these days, I get up, I go to my piano and I try to be creative. Before I know it, the afternoon’s over."
