Morgan Evans is opening up about finding strength after divorce.
The Australian country star released a new album, Steel Town, on Friday, March 20 and spoke to Cody Alan on SiriusXM's The Highway about how he focused on the positive elements of his life after splitting from ex-wife Kelsea Ballerini in 2022.
"It's an awful thing for anyone to have to go through, and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone, but I guess like everything, you know, life goes on," said Evans, 40, noting that he received "a lot of advice" following the split.
"You know, 'I think you're going to look back at this and you're going to be so grateful for every second,'" he detailed. "When you're in it, it doesn't feel like that at all. It kind of feels like an eye-roll-y kind of like, 'Of course you would say that,' but man, I'm so grateful for where I'm at in life right now."
Evans further noted he feels "so grateful for the way everything has gone to get me to this point" and added, "So all that advice actually rings true."

"I think you find new kind of strength in yourself, new resilience, and I think you really find who your real mates are as well and who the real genuine people you have in your life are," said the musician. "I feel like they're all the most important parts of life."
Evans explained divorce is "not a positive experience," but he tries "to find the hope" in life and through music. "I try to find the hope in it, try to see the positive things and, yeah, man, life goes on."

The "How to Make Gravy" singer and 32-year-old Ballerini's 2022 split came after five years of marriage. He's now in a relationship with fellow country star Laci Kaye Booth, who features on the single "Two Broken Hearts" from Steel Town.
In the SiriusXM interview, Evans spoke about meeting Booth, 30, through the music industry and taking their relationship "to the next level" a couple years ago.
"I don't want to go into too much detail about that. She's a private person and I think I've learned a lot from my previous experiences in terms of sharing too much," he said.
Despite wanting to keep elements of their relationship to himself, Evans explained they're "really happy" at the moment before opening up about how "Two Broken Hearts" came together.

"We play music a lot together actually, and we write songs together, and we're singing together quite often. But I think there's a difference between a song that two people sing together and then a song when two people sing it, it goes to a new place," explained Evans.
"Two Broken Hearts" was "never written as a duet," according to Evans. "But as soon as I heard her sing on it, I was like, 'Holy s—, like, this can never be any other way.'"
"I'm super proud of that record and very grateful to have her voice on it," he said.
