As Alexander Zverev continues his attempts to win his first Grand Slam title here in Paris, a trial in a Berlin court has begun which could have far greater implications for his tennis career. On October 2 last year, the 27-year-old was given a penalty order and fined £392,000 by a German court for bodily harm against his ex-girlfriend Brenda Patea, the mother of his child. A penalty order is issued in German law by a public prosecutor when they do not consider a trial to be necessary.
