Coca-Cola Just Announced New Versions of Its Most Iconic Sodas

“Been waiting for this!”
Coca-Cola is on a serious innovation streak, and our fridges have never been more stocked. From its most recent sparkling water launches with Smartwater and Topo Chico to the return of our favorite limited-edition holiday soda and two new Coke flavors, it’s safe to say that Coca-Cola won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
It might seem like the 140-year-old company has done it all, but there’s one popular soda market Coca-Cola has yet to dominate: prebiotics. Under Coca-Cola’s massive brand lineup, Simply Pop is currently its only prebiotic offering. Simply Pop offers five different prebiotic soda flavors, each of which contains six grams of prebiotic fiber, along with zinc, vitamin C, and no added sugar.
Now, Coca-Cola is testing prebiotic versions of some of its most iconic sodas, and we’re counting down the days until we can get our hands on them.
Coca-Cola Tests Prebiotic Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero Sugar, and Fresca

PepsiCo has already broken into the prebiotic soda market in more ways than one. For starters, Pepsi acquired Poppi, one of the most popular “better-for-you” soda brands on store shelves, in 2025. And earlier this year, it also introduced two prebiotic Pepsi cola drinks: one in the drink’s original flavor, and one in cherry vanilla. When they first dropped on Black Friday last year, they quickly sold out—and Coca-Cola must have taken notes.
According to a press release, the company is testing prebiotic versions of three of its most beloved sodas: Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero Sugar, and Fresca. Each 12- ounce soda will have six grams of prebiotic fiber and zero sugar.
Despite the health benefits, Coca-Cola’s website states that each drink’s iconic flavor won’t change. Coke will remain “unmistakably Coke,” Fresca will still have its “classic citrus taste,” and Sprite will offer the “same energy” with “more to it.”
While the sodas haven’t even launched yet, fans have already begun to express their excitement for Coca-Cola’s latest venture into the land of “better-for-you” soda.
“Been waiting for this!” one fan declared on Instagram.
Another fan said, “You don’t know how happy this makes me.”
Fans also have high expectations for the latest Coca-Cola drop, citing Pepsi’s prebiotic offerings.
”[The] Pepsi one [tastes] like regular Pepsi so hopefully these are the same,” one fan noted. “Pepsi [is] not that great so I’ll give Coke a try,” another shared.
If you live in New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania and are intrigued by Coca-Cola’s latest innovation, keep your eyes peeled at the end of October, when the sodas will roll out as a market test in those select states. And if you like them, don’t be afraid to stock up to signal your interest, because clearly, Coca-Cola is listening.
