Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has come beneath hearth after calling a female reporter a 'good woman' in a tetchy interview during which he refused to elaborate on a remark he had made.

The Scottish champions' performances have been slightly sketchy just lately they usually seemed to be heading to a different disappointing draw away to Motherwell on Sunday.

But stoppage-time objectives from Adam Idah and Luis Palma secured a much-needed Three-1 win to keep tempo with league leaders Rangers.

Far from being proud of the late victory, Rodgers reduce an irritable figure afterwards in a spiky interview with BBC Radio Scotland's Jane Lewis.

The Northern Irishman appeared to be sad with media protection of his aspect and the 'story being written' about his players, but then repeatedly shot down Lewis when asked to elucidate his grievances.

After a terse forwards and backwards, Rodgers could be heard giving the microphone again and going to walk away – but not earlier than aiming a parting shot at the reporter.

Abruptly slicing off Lewis, he is heard saying: 'Okay? Finished. Good woman. Properly carried out.'

Rodgers repeated the phrases a second time, though Lewis and a BBC Scotland colleague laughed off the trade, saying: 'There you go, he's executed.'

A clip of Rodgers' interview was later posted on social media the place it has since gone viral, with the former Liverpool boss accused of casual sexism for his comments and abrasive tone.

A spokeswoman from the Scottish Feminist Community stated: 'Jane Lewis was just doing her job, making an attempt to extract an evidence from Brendan Rodgers on his cryptic comment.

'That the go-to angle was condescension is sort of illuminating, but actually very depressing in 2024. We thought dinosaurs have been extinct.'

Campaigners at For Ladies Scotland have been also sad with the trade, saying: 'It's miserable that informal sexism continues to be embedded in sport.

'Ladies's achievements are underrated and dismissed, and their skilled standing undermined. Rodgers owes the reporter an apology.'

Lewis, who has many years of expertise, has not commented on the matter because the clip of the change went viral, although in line with the Daily Mail she is 'unfazed' by Rodgers' comment.
